Shao Cixin stood in front of the sink and looked at herself in the mirror, thinking back to Wen Zhihan’s slightly raised lips. It was very charming.

—How Wen Zhihan was sitting in the conference room, but her eyes were fixed on Shao Cixin.

—How her long black hair fell over her shoulders like a waterfall, soft and smooth.

—How when she caught her gaze, her originally smooth eyebrows suddenly melted into tenderness.

When Wen Zhihan smiled, she was brilliant and dazzling.

Shao Cixin slowly put her face in her hands.

Wen Zhihan’s smile seemed to be right in front of her, making her flush for no reason.

Wen Zhihan was so beautiful…

She was beautiful enough to be remembered for a lifetime.

Shao Cixin washed her face and wiped her hands. On the way back, her footsteps slowed when she approached the conference room.

She saw Wen Zhihan and Chen Suling talking outside.

Shao Cixin could sense that Chen Suling wasn’t in a hurry to leave. When she processed this information, her gaze unconsciously fell on the two women, silently observing their next development.

Chen Suling raised her hands slightly like she was asking for a hug. “It’s a pleasure to work with you.”

Wen Zhihan smiled gently, took her palm, and only gave her a polite handshake. “As you said, it’s a pleasure.”

One wanted to enter, but the other’s defenses were impregnable.

Chen Suling’s eyes lowered, landing on their intertwined hands. Finally, she smiled.

She still had no intention of leaving.

“Are you free after work later? Do you want to have dinner together?”

Ween Zhihan calmly refused, “Sorry, I have an appointment.”

Chen Suling was a smart person, and she understood what this answer meant.

Not only was Wen Zhihan turning down her dinner invitation, but she was also rejecting her advances.

Chen Suling couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you keep refusing me? Your relationship status has always been blank, so why can’t you just give me a chance? Try it out with me?”

Shao Cixin heard this. Her eyes immediately widened, and a sour jealousy rose in her heart, causing her to instinctively glance at Wen Zhihan.

What would Wen Zhihan say?

They hadn’t seen each other for so long. Had Wen Zhihan changed her mind?

No, it was Shao Cixin who didn’t want to fall in love. Even if Wen Zhihan changed her mind and began liking someone else, Shao Cixin couldn’t blame her for such a natural turn of events.

But why was her heart so unwilling to see Wen Zhihan fall for someone else…

Shao Cixin was lost for a moment. Then she finally came back to her senses.

Could she be…jealous?

While she was zoned out, Wen Zhihan had already responded to Chen Suling.

Her expression was gentle, and her tone remained calm. “Sorry, I can’t. I have someone I like.”

Shao Cixin was startled by this information.

It was so sudden!

She thought that so far no one had ever successfully entered Wen Zhihan’s heart!

Wen Zhihan ignored Chen Suling’s surprised expression and looked at the time. “I still have work, so I won’t keep President Chen for long. It’s a pleasure to work with you. I’ll ask my secretary to take you down.”

Chen Suling couldn’t fail to understand such a euphemistic way to drive away guests.

She didn’t like to stay and make trouble for others either. After all, it made no one look good, and they were all respectable people.

“There’s no need. Since this is the case, I won’t dally any longer. I’ll just go down by myself, and I hope I can meet President Wen’s sweetheart next time.”

These words fell to the ground. Chen Suling turned to the elevator. Wen Zhihan’s eyes followed her movements. Then she and Chen Suling both spotted Shao Cixin standing not too far away.

Two pairs of eyes suddenly landed on Shao Cixin, and she immediately went on alert.

She smiled at Wen Zhihan and Chen Suling with a hint of cheekiness and raised her hand in greeting. “Hi.”

Chen Suling didn’t expect to see Shao Cixin here.

She recognized Shao Cixin.

Shao Cixin was the daughter of the Shao family, an actress who made her comeback a few months ago. She was also the former wife of Wen Zhihan’s little sister, and she could once be considered one of Wen Zhihan’s family members.

Before her comeback, she was involved in a tragic car accident. Now, she appeared to be recovered and taking care of herself.

She was truly lucky among misfortunes.

Chen Suling turned to look at Wen Zhihan, then left.

She was not very interested in why Shao Cixin was here.

The Wen and Shao families had a harmonious relationship, and it was normal for Wen Zhihan and Shao Cixin to know each other.

Chen Suling stepped into the elevator and pressed the button to the first floor. She looked straight ahead as the elevator doors slowly closed.

Outside, Shao Cixin walked past, her side profile smooth and delicate, her exquisite appearance obvious at a glance.

Then the metal doors completely slid shut, and the elevator began to descend.

At this moment, Chen Suling was still curious about the person Wen Zhihan liked.

Wen Zhihan liked someone?

Who could it be…

Upstairs, Shao Cixin walked up to Wen Zhihan. “The interview’s over?”

Wen Zhihan looked at her tenderly. “En, it’s over. Let’s go back to my office.”

Wen Zhihan stretched out her hand, then took it back just as quickly, her movements full of restraint.

When they walked back to her office, they would pass by the secretaries’ workstations. Shao Cixin hadn’t agreed to be with her yet, so she had to avoid suspicion.

Shao Cixin understood Wen Zhihan’s thoughtfulness.

But when she remembered Chen Suling, who was just here, a sudden stubbornness emerged in her heart.

She didn’t want to avoid this type of suspicion anymore.

Chen Suling could hold Wen Zhihan’s hand, so why couldn’t she?

Wen Zhihan gazed down at the hand suddenly in hers, then slowly raised her eyes to look at Shao Cixin.

Shao Cixin twirled her long hair and calmly lifted her eyebrows. “President Chen can hold your hand, but I can’t?”

Wen Zhihan could smell a hint of vinegar.

She hoped it wasn’t her imagination.

“Of course you can.” Wen Zhihan took the initiative to tighten her grip on Shao Cixin’s palm. “Our Cixin can hold hands whenever she wants.”

Shao Cixin felt much better after hearing this.

Look, she could hold Wen Zhihan’s hand, but Chen Suling couldn’t, and neither could anyone else!

“What does Cixin want to eat?”

“I’m okay with anything. You decide.”

“Okay.”

To Shao Cixin, Chen Suling was a very high-quality person.

As soon as she appeared, all the suitors surrounding Wen Zhihan were eclipsed.

Chen Suling and Wen Zhihan were a perfect match, and it would be natural for them to be together. In the restaurant, Shao Cixin found herself poking at the rice in her bowl with lowered eyes. But somehow, she didn’t want Wen Zhihan and Chen Suling to be together…

Those two wouldn’t really get together, right?

Wen Zhihan also just rejected Chen Suling…

So they wouldn’t, right?

But things in the world moved like a chess game. Who could say for sure what would happen in the future?

“Cixin.” A gentle voice suddenly came from the other side. “The food’s not to your liking?”

Shao Cixin instinctively raised her head, meeting the eyes that were always so gentle to her. “Ah? Oh, that’s not it. I was just thinking about something…”

“What were you thinking about?” Wen Zhihan served her a bowl of soup. “Here, drink some soup. This restaurant’s soup is very good.”

“Okay.” After Shao Cixin made a sound of agreement, she began to stir the rich and fragrant soup with her spoon.

She was still wondering whether Wen Zhihan and Chen Suling would get together.

The more she thought about it, the more irritated she became—why didn’t she just ask Wen Zhihan herself!

Determined, she raised her eyes again, about to boldly confront the person across from her.

But then she discovered that Wen Zhihan had already stopped eating and was looking at her.

Shao Cixin: “?”

She asked curiously, “Why are you looking at me? Is there something on my face?”

Wen Zhihan smiled and said, “There’s nothing on your face, but there’s something on your mind.”

Shao Cixin: “…”

Wen Zhihan said, “Cixin, if you don’t mind, you can share your troubles with me.”

When Shao Cixin heard Wen Zhihan, she decided to go along with what she said.

She put down her chopsticks, propped her elbows on the table, and looked straight at Wen Zhihan. Then she asked bluntly, “Wen Zhihan, would you get together with Chen Suling?

“I can tell that she likes you a lot. She couldn’t even bear to leave after the interview.

“If we’re being honest, she’s a very admirable person. She’s well-known and beautiful, a high-quality partner.

“So…won’t you consider her in the future?”

The series of sentences launched in Wen Zhihan’s direction pointed to one obvious fact—Shao Cixin was concerned.

Wen Zhihan’s beautiful blue eyes gently curved, like delicate water melting silently into a stream. She was as charming as ever, and so was her love.

“Cixin is also very admirable, very well-known, and very beautiful.”

No matter how high-quality others were, it had nothing to do with her. Her eyes could only see Shao Cixin, and she couldn’t let go of her.

You might encounter many beautiful things in your life, but as long as you grasped one of them in your heart, it was enough[1].

Wen Zhihan’s sudden compliment affected Shao Cixin.

Although she felt shameful, Shao Cixin had to admit that Wen Zhihan’s praise was very nice to hear and very effective on her. If this was high school and she was suddenly praised by such a beautiful senior sister, she would probably walk sideways all the way home after school.

It wasn’t just a small amount of happiness.

“Okay, I understand. I won’t be curious about this topic anymore. Let’s eat, let’s eat.”

Wen Zhihan wasn’t in a hurry to move her chopsticks. Instead, she observed Shao Cixin quietly. It was only when she saw Shao Cixin really start eating obediently—no longer poking her rice or stirring her soup—that she started to use her chopsticks.

Her junior sister didn’t act like she was just curious about this matter.

Wen Zhihan was responsible for driving Shao Cixin back to the community where she lived by herself. The car accident made Shao Cixin uneasy about driving, and she hadn’t been gotten behind the wheel for a long time.

Wen Zhihan was happy about this arrangement. It gave them more opportunities to be alone together.

When they arrived at the community, she parked the car outside. Then she walked with Shao Cixin for a while before reluctantly stopping underneath her building.

Shao Cixin raised her head and glanced at the floor where she lived. She turned to look at her beautiful senior sister and said with a brisk tone, “Okay, I’ve arrived. Thank you again. I was very happy to eat dinner with you.”

She continued, “Get back quickly and be safe on the road. Send me a message when you arrive home. Go to bed early, have a good night.”

After Shao Cixin finished speaking, Wen Zhihan didn’t move right away. Instead, she stretched out her hand, tenderly took Shao Cixin’s palm, and suddenly said, “Cixin, there’s nothing between me and Miss Chen.”

Shao Cixin blinked.

It was just like a girlfriend clarifying her friendship status with others.

Wen Zhihan’s fingertips gently rubbed the back of Shao Cixin’s cold white hand, her voice as gentle as ever. “I don’t like her, I only like you.

“There is no possibility between us. Not now, and never in the future.”

Shao Cixin couldn’t help but respond playfully, “Oh, but who can say for sure what will happen in the future?”

“I can say for sure.”

Wen Zhihan answered with great confidence.

“—Believe me.”

Shao Cixin saw the patience and courage in her eyes.

Her firmness was irrefutable, making people unconsciously want to believe her and support her vision of the future.

Since Wen Zhihan said she liked her, she would always like her. Heaven and earth do not move, and time would not change how she felt.

A bright smile spread in Shao Cixin’s peach blossom eyes, filling her whole heart in an instant.

“Okay, I believe you.”

Then she fell into shock.

She finally realized, “Wait, why are you suddenly telling me this?”

The two of them were not together!

This whole time, they were acting like they were already a couple!

Something was wrong!

Wen Zhihan thought Shao Cixin’s delayed reaction was very cute. She couldn’t help but laugh and said warmly, “I’m afraid that you won’t be happy because you’re concerned.”

After she said this, she raised her fingers to affectionately fix Shao Cixin’s long hair, which had been blown into a mess by the night wind.

“That’s nonsense. Since when did I become unhappy? Since when was I concerned?” Shao Cixin said roughly, “You hurry up and quickly go home to sleep. Go, go, go. Good night, good night.”

Wen Zhihan smiled and patted her head.

“Good night.”

Shao Cixin felt inexplicably embarrassed, so she turned around and ran towards the building.

Wen Zhihan smiled when she saw this. Then she also turned to leave.

But just as she walked a few steps away, she heard Shao Cixin’s voice from behind. “Wen Zhihan, you have to drive well, pay attention to the road, and obey traffic laws!

“Be sure to send me a message when you get home safely!”

Wen Zhihan shifted and saw Shao Cixin standing behind a pillar, leaning out half her body to wave at her. Her eyes were bright and clear, her expression lively. She was unreasonably cute.

Wen Zhihan instinctually raised her hand in response.

“Okay, I understand. Go to bed early.”

Shao Cixin turned around and left.

This time, she really went home.

After she returned home, Shao Cixin quickly took a shower and then came out to wait for news about Wen Zhihan.

She didn’t realize that she already cared about Wen Zhihan more than before.

As she waited for Wen Zhihan’s message, she remembered Wen Zhihan’s statement, I’m afraid you won’t be happy because you’re concerned. She fell into deep contemplation.

She began to reflect.

Did she mind?

Today, did she mind? Was she unhappy?

Did this really happen?

Recalling her actions, she finally discovered—yes.

When Chen Suling expressed her affection for Wen Zhihan and revealed her desire to pursue her, Shao Cixin couldn’t help but deep down in her heart dread the possibility that Wen Zhihan would agree.

She even began to have a strange desire to win. As long as Wen Zhihan said that she was better than Chen Suling and affirmed that she was unique in her heart, Shao Cixin would be happy.

Even when Wen Zhihan smiled at her, she would start to blush…

The more Shao Cixin thought about it, the more she felt that something was wrong with her behavior.

Her thoughts uncontrollably drifted in another direction. She wasn’t…falling in love with Wen Zhihan, was she?

Shao Cixin put a hand over her heart.

…But she didn’t feel it beat.

When you like someone, shouldn’t your heart beat faster?

Why didn’t her heart beat faster when she saw Wen Zhihan?

Had she or hadn’t she fallen in love with her?

Questions poured into her mind one after another, all vying for her attention. Shao Cixin suddenly felt overwhelmed. She didn’t know where to start first.

Just as she became anxious, her phone suddenly rang.

When she caught a glimpse of the three characters “Wen Zhihan,” her frustrating thoughts were instantly thrown out the window.

She quickly sat up and answered the phone. “Hello?”

“I’m home.”

Wen Zhihan’s voice came out of the receiver, low and soft. It was especially pleasant to the ear.

“I drove well, and I obediently obeyed the traffic laws.”

It was just like a report.

Shao Cixin couldn’t help but laugh.

Their President Wen was indeed a bit cute.

“As long as you get home safely,” Shao Cixin said. She curled her fingers and unconsciously began playing with her hair. “Didn’t you say you would send me a message? Why did you end up calling me instead?”

The person on the other end of the phone was very honest about her feelings.

“Since I still wanted to hear Cixin’s voice, I called her.”

The smile on the corners of Shao Cixin’s lips grew stronger. She felt that her mood was too good today.

“Our Miss Wen’s mouth is quite sweet.”

Wen Zhihan smiled softly. “En, because I have to work hard to please Miss Shao.”

Shao Cixin raised her eyebrows. “Mission accomplished. Miss Shao is very happy.”

Wen Zhihan said softly, “That’s good.”

Since she already called, the two of them chatted on the phone for a little while.

Their discussion ended with Wen Zhihan saying she needed to take a shower.

“Go to bed early,” Wen Zhihan finished. “Good night, sweet dreams.”

“Good night.”

The connection broke, and Shao Cixin put down her phone.

When she turned off her phone, she saw herself mirrored in the dark screen. Her lips were curled, and she looked very sweet.

The next second, the corners of her lips fell.

Did she…. really fall in love with Wen Zhihan?

Shao Cixin stroked her chin and fell into deep contemplation again.

In order to prove whether she liked her or not, Shao Cixin took the initiative to find Wen Zhihan.

You can’t hide your love when you see the object of your affection in person!

So Wen Zhihan experienced Shao Cixin staring at her and clinging to her every day, either in the office or at her home.

Other than this, they didn’t do anything out of bounds.

Then on one weekend, Wen Zhihan finally couldn’t help but ask Shao Cixin, “Cixin, what are you doing?”

Shao Cixin, who was sitting on the sofa, straightened up in an instant. She was quite charitable and told Wen Zhihan straightforwardly, “I’m seeing if I like you.”

When Wen Zhihan heard this, she was elated at first but then quickly fell into confusion.

The fact that Shao Cixin had this thought meant that she may have different feelings for her in her heart, and it also meant that there could be a possibility between them.

But about this “seeing”…how were you supposed to see it?

She said she didn’t understand.

With fingers tangled in her long hair, Shao Cixin bent an elbow against the back of the sofa, supported her head, and said, “I’m looking for the feeling of my heart racing. Maybe it will happen if I keep looking at you?

“Or put it another way, even if there wasn’t a heartbeat before, there could be a heartbeat now. That’s a good thing!”

After hearing what Shao Cixin said, Wen Zhihan immediately turned to look at her with surprise and happiness. “What did you just say?”

Shao Cixin clarified seriously, “I’m not sure if I 100% like you, or if I just have a little affection for you. If it’s the former, then we’ll both be happy. If it’s the latter, then I’ll work hard to cultivate my feelings and double my affection for you until it’s good enough to be called ‘liking’ you.”

After saying this, Shao Cixin leaned into Wen Zhihan with a charming smile.

“Wen Zhihan, I can be sure of one thing now—I am willing to like you. Very willing.”

Wen Zhihan was different from others, and no one could compare to her.

Shao Cixin was willing to make feelings come from nothing for her, in order to respond to her heart and stay with her for a long time.

As long as Wen Zhihan wanted her, she was willing.

Wen Zhihan gazed into Shao Cixin’s autumn eyes, then embraced her in her arms.

Although they were not officially together, hearing the person she liked for many years say that they wanted to like her back and develop a relationship with her was as wonderful as a dream.

“Like me soon, Cixin.” She hugged her tightly. “I can’t wait any longer.”

Wen Zhihan knew that Shao Cixin gave her too many privileges, such as being alone with her and having intimate physical contact that was superior to others.

But just these were far from enough.

With her love no longer hidden and their relationship becoming close, Wen Zhihan also began to feel greedy, wanting more.

She wanted Shao Cixin, her person, her heart, and everything about her. She wanted the qualification to be able to accompany her for the rest of her life.

Shao Cixin did not push Wen Zhihan away. Instead, she hugged her back gently, burying her face in her neck.

She didn’t want to let her down again.

After that day, Wen Zhihan never again asked about Shao Cixin’s tendency to stare at her and indulge her very much.

She saw this as helping Shao Cixin develop feelings for her.

She hoped that Shao Cixin could fall in love with her soon.

But after they both learned that Shao Cixin had a slight affection for Wen Zhihan and was willing to like her, their behavior became more and more intimate.

Today, Shao Cixin came to Guanglan to see Wen Zhihan again. She even treated the employees of the company to tea and desserts, which was very generous.

Then she sat on the sofa in Wen Zhihan’s office and gazed at her with her face in her hands.

After Shao Cixin finished filming, she was resting for half her time at home. To prevent her body from being overwhelmed and exhausted, her work schedule wasn’t too rigorous, so she had plenty of time to visit Wen Zhihan and cultivate their relationship.

In her mind, being idle was just that—being idle. It was better to be a little more active. Maybe this way, she could respond to Wen Zhihan’s feelings earlier.

Her gaze was somewhat effective.

She liked it best when Wen Zhihan smiled at her.

Especially when Wen Zhihan suddenly looked at her while she was standing in a crowd or talking to others. At these times, Wen Zhihan would always give her a gentle smile, as beautiful as if all the flowers in the world were blooming.

Shao Cixin suddenly came to a realization. There was a part of her that liked Wen Zhihan back.

On Saturday, Shao Cixin went to find Wen Zhihan as usual.

As a result, she was trapped in Wen Zhihan’s home by a sudden rainstorm.

Strong winds and thunder and lightning brewed outside.

Shao Cixin stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and took another look.

Rolling thunder tore through the sky, and the night suddenly became as bright as day—terrifying.

Shao Cixin’s scalp suddenly felt numb, as if the thunder had already struck her.

She rubbed her arms, hurried back to Wen Zhihan, and sat down next to her.

“Wen Zhihan, it looks like I’ll be spending the night at your house tonight.”

Wen Zhihan heard this and said gently, “You’re welcome to.”

Shao Cixin took another look outside.

She had no choice but to spend the night here. She really couldn’t leave.

“Lend me a pair of pajamas. I want to take a shower.”

Wen Zhihan took Shao Cixin to get pajamas.

Even if it was just sleepwear, Ms. Shao, who always loved beautiful things, would choose the one that she liked the most—the one that was most beautiful.

After Wen Zhihan watched Shao Cixin happily leave for the bathroom, she returned to the living room and sat down.

She was no longer in the mood to watch TV. All she could think about was that Shao Cixin was going to spend the night at her house.

This was the first time Shao Cixin would spend the night at her house.

Besides the two of them, there was no one else.

In the silent atmosphere, Wen Zhihan’s heart became agitated.

She had to find something to distract herself.

When Shao Cixin left the shower, she found Wen Zhihan still sitting in the living room.

As she got closer, she realized that Wen Zhihan was reading a magazine.

Shao Cixin couldn’t help but start evaluating her appearance.

She had hanging eyebrows and thick and long eyelashes.

Her long hair was pulled up and clamped behind her head with a black clip, leaving only a strand of slightly curled black hair hanging lazily in front of her face.

When she raised her head and looked at Shao Cixin with those crystal-clear sapphire eyes, she was so beautiful and charming that no one else could come close.

“You’re done?”

Shao Cixin nodded, then walked briskly around the sofa and sat next to Wen Zhihan.

She didn’t hesitate to praise her. “Jiejie, you’re so beautiful.”

Wen Zhihan felt embarrassed and scratched the tip of her nose.

“Sweet talk.”

Shao Cixin stepped onto the sofa with both legs. She hugged her knees to her chest and tilted her head to smile at Wen Zhihan. “It’s not sweet talk, it’s the truth.”

She even casually joked with Wen Zhihan, deliberately smiling like a vagrant, “You are so beautiful, I’m afraid I won’t be able to control myself and do something to you tonight.

“President Wen, you have to be careful.”

Wen Zhihan gazed at Shao Cixin and put down her magazine when she saw her smile.

She asked with interest, “What will you do to me?”

Shao Cixin remembered that Wen Zhihan was thin-skinned and suddenly wanted to tease her.

So she raised her brows and said with a broad smile, “Of course I’m only thinking about what adults should do. Dirty things.”

After saying this, she waited to see a blush appear on Wen Zhihan’s face.

Unexpectedly, Wen Zhihan had become immune to her sweet words and desensitized to her approach, so she would no longer blush as easily. Even when she was being teased.

Then Shao Cixin saw Wen Zhihan’s fingers cross over to her side.

The distance between two people suddenly shortened.

“Okay, I’ll wait for you,” Wen Zhihan said with a gentle smile.

Shao Cixin: “?”

She was stunned.

Wen Zhihan couldn’t be tricked anymore.

Why didn’t she blush accordion to the script??

How do I respond to this???

The author (热到昏厥) has something to say:

According to the script, you should have already been — by her.

It’s almost finished, it’s almost done.

热热[2] can finally take a big vacation!

I’m not 100% sure what my next story will be, because I actually don’t know which to write or what to write about.

Let’s just take it slowly. I’ll let everyone know what I decide on wb[3] anyway.

[1] “弱水三千只取一瓢” (ruò shuǐ sānqiān, zhǐ qǔ yī piáo yǐn) or literally “although the Ruo River is three thousand li long, you only drink one ladle worth of water from it” is a Buddhist saying popularized by Dream of the Red Chamber, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. It describes how, although there are so many potential lovers in the world, it is enough to just cherish one.

*Dies from all the sweetness because I got diabetes

‘Shao Cixin clarified seriously, “I’m not sure if I 100% like you, or if I just have a little affection for you. If it’s the former, then we’ll both be happy. If it’s the latter, then I’ll work hard to cultivate my feelings and double my affection for you until it’s good enough to be called ‘liking’ you.” ‘
‘“Wen Zhihan, I can be sure of one thing now—I am willing to like you. Very willing.”’

These two parts killed me.

Honestly this story has rewritten my standards in romance again and again (it’s the reason why I cannot accept crematorium stories anymore lol).

Thanks a bunch as usual, can’t wait to see this through to the end.
