Chapter 61 – Mrs. Shao

It was a sweet and exciting possibility, with an answer that no one could predict.

Wen Zhihan was enthralled, conflicted but hopeful.

Was it possible?

Could Shao Cixin really abandon her previous vows and accept Wen Zhihan, allowing her to enter her heart?

Maybe…

Wen Zhihan lowered her gaze and looked at the soft jade-like figure in her arms.

Shao Cixin slept peacefully with her hands wrapped around Wen Zhihan’s waist, in a position so domineering that it seemed to imply no one else was allowed to take away Wen Zhihan for even one second.

Wen Zhihan gently touched Shao Cixin’s shoulder. After a moment, she slowly closed her beautiful blue eyes, accompanying Shao Cixin in her dreams under the moonlight.

It was meaningless to struggle alone, better to leave the answer to the future.

Good night, beautiful and lovely Mrs. Wen.

I wish you beautiful dreams.

Shao Cixin slept until dawn.

After Wen Zhihan came back last night, she no longer had any worries and comfortably fell asleep.

When she woke up in the morning, she found herself in Wen Zhihan’s arms. This time, she didn’t run away.

Seeing that she wasn’t in a hurry to go out and Wen Zhihan hadn’t opened her eyes yet, Shao Cixin simply lay in Wen Zhihan’s arms and didn’t get up.

But then again, did Wen Zhihan push her away yesterday?

Shao Cixin didn’t think so.

Her memories were a little foggy from sleep last night, and she couldn’t remember clearly.

But what if she didn’t?

What if Wen Zhihan secretly pushed Shao Cixin away, and then Shao Cixin shamelessly back into her arms again?

It wasn’t like she’d never done something like this before…

Shao Cixin was internally struggling with her feelings, and she began to feel that her current position was uncomfortable, so she moved carefully.

But as soon as she moved, Wen Zhihan also woke up.

Shao Cixin froze, but before she could raise her head and ask, “Did I wake you up?” Wen Zhihan’s hand fell on her head and began gently stroking her hair in a familiar motion.

“You’re awake?” Wen Zhihan asked.

The sound of Wen Zhihan’s voice when she first woke up was hoarse, low, and gentle, and very pleasant to the ears.

Shao Cixin felt comforted by Wen Zhihan’s voice and replied, “Yes, I’m awake.”

She couldn’t help but feel secretly thrilled.

Not only did Wen Zhihan not push her away, but she also began stroking her hair.

What did this mean? It meant that Wen Zhihan didn’t mind being held by Shao Cixin in her sleep, which must also mean that Shao Cixin already occupied a special position in her heart!

She still had it!

Shao Cixin decided to continue taking the initiative.

Under the other person’s gaze, Shao Cixin sat up, leaned forward, and lowered her head to kiss Wen Zhihan on the lips.

“Good morning.

“Force of habit.”

The last sentence was like a secret message that only Wen Zhihan could understand.

After hearing this, she slowly raised her beautiful eyes and smiled softly.

Even though it was just a kiss for the sake of getting used to acting on the show, wasn’t it still good? It was certainly better than nothing.

Wen Zhihan’s long, slender fingers fell on Shao Cixin’s neck. She caressed Shao Cixin’s skin, then pushed her towards herself.

Their lips touched again, soft and gentle.

“Good morning.”

Shao Cixin gazed at Wen Zhihan, smiling happily.

This time, she wanted to be a super narcissistic person.

—Wen Zhihan took the initiative to kiss me, so she must have me in her heart!

“You’re not going to the company?” Shao Cixin asked.

Usually by this time, Wen Zhihan would have already finished breakfast and be getting ready to go to her office.

“I’m not going now. I’ll go later in the afternoon,” Wen Zhihan said, stroking Shao Cixin’s long hair. “What’s Cixin’s schedule today?”

Shao Cixin didn’t hesitate. She directly reported her itinerary to Wen Zhihan. “Today’s not bad. I’m just taking two acting courses and recording for a show. I should be finished with work by seven, and then I’m free for the day.”

Wen Zhihan grasped the information and said in a warm voice, “Thank you for your hard work.”

Shao Cixin patted her. “You work hard too. Since you came back so late yesterday, you should just rest well today and get some more sleep.

“I’ll put breakfast on the table for you. Remember to eat it when you wake up.”

After she finished speaking, Shao Cixin got up and left to brush her teeth.

Wen Zhihan glanced in the direction of the door. In the end, she got up as well.

She still wanted to eat breakfast with the person she liked.

After eating, she’d go back to bed and lie down for a while.

Shao Cixin and Wen Zhihan finished breakfast.

Afterward, Shao Cixin went to the dressing room and began choosing what clothes to wear for the day.

Wen Zhihan returned to the bedroom and stood in front of the window for a while.

The dazzling sun shone brightly on the clouds, bathing the world in golden light.

The weather was good, the sky was clear, and the temperature was ideal, neither too hot nor too cold.

Shao Cixin left the dressing room to look for Wen Zhihan. After searching around the house, she found Wen Zhihan in their bedroom.

Shao Cixin gaze fell on her beautiful wife standing by the window, bathing in rays of sunlight.

She opened her lips, about to call “Wen Zhihan” as usual, but then stopped.

No, she shouldn’t call Wen Zhihan by her name. She should call her by something else.

A title to match “Mrs. Wen.”

“Mrs. Shao.”

Hearing this form of address, Wen Zhihan turned and looked for the source of the sound.

She found Shao Cixin standing at the door, her hands full of clothes.

It was the clothes that Wen Zhihan gave her for her birthday.

But Wen Zhihan’s attention was not on the clothes. It was on the title “Mrs. Shao.”

She rarely ever heard Shao Cixin call her “Mrs. Shao.”

Since these moments were so few and far between, they made Wen Zhihan feel overjoyed, as if she was finally being recognized by Shao Cixin as her beloved wife.

“What’s wrong?” Wen Zhihan responded with a smile, closing the curtains.

Shao Cixin walked towards Wen Zhihan. She lifted the two sets of clothing in her hands and said, “Help me choose. Which one should I wear today?”

Even when she was going to class, she had to go looking beautiful!

Wen Zhihan examined the two sets of clothing. After a few seconds, she raised her finger and pointed to the red lace-trimmed long dress in Shao Cixin’s right hand.

“Cixin is beautiful in anything, but she will be even more beautiful in this dress.”

Shao Cixin raised her eyebrows, feeling encouraged by the praise.

Her family’s Mrs. Shao was very pleasant to listen to.

“Then I’ll change for you to see.”

Afterward, Wen Zhihan watched as Shao Cixin put the clothes on their bed and took off her soft pajamas in front of her.

Shao Cixin’s snow-white skin and graceful figure suddenly appeared before Wen Zhihan’s eyes.

Wen Zhihan was slightly startled. As if magnetically drawn to Shao Cixin, her eyes directly fell on the other person’s body.

Shao Cixin had just put on new clothes in front of Wen Zhihan, without any attempts at concealing herself. Then she gathered her long hair above her head, revealing her smooth and flawless back.

She asked coquettishly, “Wen Zhihan, please help me pull up the zipper.”

As if bewitched, Wen Zhihan could not refuse.

She had clearly kissed this body in front of her and the person it belonged to countless times, but at this moment, she still couldn’t resist her attraction to her.

Wen Zhihan walked over, raised her hands, and slowly pulled the zipper up, covering up Shao Cixin’s snow-white spring-colored flesh bit by bit.

She managed to curtail her temptation, but her desire was already rising.

Wen Zhihan reached out to help Shao Cixin put down her long hair, but she restrained herself.

“You look beautiful.”

With her back to Wen Zhihan, Shao Cixin couldn’t see Wen Zhihan’s expression and didn’t know whether her move was successful or not.

She just wanted Wen Zhihan to desire her.

Not because of physical needs, but because of who she was—because it was her.

“How beautiful?” Shao Cixin turned around and looked into Wen Zhihan’s eyes, her gaze burning. “Am I the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen?”

“Of course.” Wen Zhihan couldn’t help but hold Shao Cixin’s waist and kiss her eyebrows. “Our Cixin is the most beautiful person I have ever seen.”

Shao Cixin saw the naked desire in Wen Zhihan’s eyes.

A desire for her and her alone.

“Wen Zhihan, it’s time for us to pay off our debts.” Shao Cixin raised her hand and touched Wen Zhihan’s lips. Her voice was soft and sultry, as if she was sweet-talking her. “Tonight, you have to tell me how beautiful I am.”

“Okay.” Wen Zhihan’s beautiful eyes were as tender as water. “As you say.”

Shao Cixin became joyful. She hugged Wen Zhihan’s waist and kissed her deeply, as if she was continuing the office kiss that was interrupted between them yesterday.

After the kiss, she said, “Go rest now” and ran back to the dressing room holding her clothes.

Wen Zhihan looked at the empty doorway and gently touched her lips.

She felt like…she was being seduced.

Was this an illusion?

After Shao Cixin finished her acting class, she and Rong Ya went to the program set together.

It was still early, so they could take their time, and Shao Cixin leisurely scrolled through her phone.

Rong Ya didn’t know what Shao Cixin was watching, but every time she turned her head, she saw Shao Cixin staring at her screen intently.

She became slightly curious, so she asked, “What are you looking at?”

After hearing Rong Ya’s voice, Shao Cixin came back to reality and responded, “Looking at beauties.”

Then she clicked on a video of a specific person on her homepage. “I want the algorithm to remember me accurately!”

Rong Ya: “?”

With her understanding of Shao Cixin’s attitude towards her own beauty, she highly suspected that Shao Cixin was looking into a mirror.

But when she leaned over and took a look, she couldn’t help but be stunned.

“Wen Zhihan???”

Shao Cixin looked at her with an overly surprised look. “What’s wrong? Isn’t my wife beautiful?”

Rong Ya: “…”

Indeed, it couldn’t be refuted.

But she really didn’t expect that one day she would see Shao Cixin watching Wen Zhihan’s videos.

“Oh, speaking of President Wen, I really wanted to ask you something.”

“What is it?”

Upon hearing that the topic was related to Wen Zhihan, Shao Cixin immediately paused the video and looked up at Rong Ya.

Rong Ya said, “The program team of Post-Marriage Love Diary plans to let each group of guests host a live broadcast. They asked me if you were willing.”

Shao Cixin frowned. “A live broadcast? What kind of live broadcast is this?”

Rong Ya explained, “It’s all because of your family’s President Wen. After she chatted with your fans on your birthday, there’s now a lot more people who want to interact with the two of you together, so is it really a surprise that the production team set their eyes on this possibility?”

“…”

Shao Cixin couldn’t help but complain, “This is obviously President Wen’s online fan meeting. Why ask me? You should be asking her if she’s willing instead.”

The person the production team needed to cooperate with was obviously the rarely seen CEO Wen Zhihan, not Shao Cixin.

Shao Cixin had always fully supported the work of the production team, and launching a live broadcast was not a problem for her.

Rong Ya said, “They already asked. They asked her before they asked you.”

Shao Cixin: “?”

Rong Ya said, “She said that as long as you are willing, she is willing. She told the production team to ask for your opinion, and that she listens to her wife.”

Shao Cixin: “???”

She couldn’t help but turn to face Rong Ya with a look of anticipation on her face. “She listens to me? Did she really say that?”

Rong Ya nodded. “That’s what the production team told me.”

After Shao Cixin heard Rong Ya’s statement, she turned to gaze back out the window, the corners of her lips rising uncontrollably.

Even though she knew that Wen Zhihan was just cooperating with their performance, she still couldn’t help but feel happy.

Regardless of whether they were real or not, at least Wen Zhihan had given her the initiative to choose this time, which represented her complete trust in her…or a certain specialness.

Shao Cixin smiled broadly and happily returned to watching videos on her phone.

The variety show Post-Marriage Love Diary provided a lot of material for fan editors, and the videos about Wen Zhihan were popping up one after another.

Shao Cixin relished them all.

When she returned home, she could even see the real person in the flesh.

This time, she also wanted to ask about the live broadcast.

She hoped she could hear some happy answers from Wen Zhihan.

It was 7:13 p.m.

The day was darkening, and only a hint of blue remained in the sky. On the streets, the lights were lit in every home.

The sleepy Fengcheng City was decorated with bright neon lights amidst the bustling traffic.

Shao Cixin finished recording her show and was changing clothes backstage.

When she came out after changing her clothes, she saw Lin Mumu running over in a hurry, calling, “Cixin, President Wen is here to pick you up!”

Shao Cixin felt a thrill shoot through her. She quickly picked up her things and followed Lin Mumu, running on her high heels to keep up, the fear of falling far from her thoughts.

Wen Zhihan was waiting at the VIP entrance.

When she heard the sound of high heels, she turned around.

Shao Cixin was running towards her.

Shao Cixin was in high spirits, her face full of energy. As she ran, her red dress fluttered in the wind, and her black hair fell into a beautiful arc in the breeze.

“Wen Zhihan!

“I’m here. I’m off work!”

She was obviously very happy.

Wen Zhihan was affected by Shao Cixin’s smile, and her lips curved in response. Then she stretched out her hand and said softly, “Xiao Xin.”

Shao Cixin stopped in front of Wen Zhihan just in time to hear such a gentle tone.

This was the first time she heard Wen Zhihan call her that.

Remembering that there were still people around them, Shao Cixin pretended to be shy and acted like a spoiled wife. “Oh dear, other people are still with us. Isn’t it embarrassing to call me something so intimate around them?”

Lin Mumu immediately pretended not to hear. She quickly turned to leave. “You two take your time. I’m going back now!”

Shao Cixin watched Lin Mumu walk away. Then she turned and saw that Wen Zhihan was still holding her hand with a smile.

“Cixin.”

“Hmm?”

“Actually, what I meant is for you to be careful when you walk, so you don’t stub your feet.” [1]

“…”

Shao Cixin: Thank you, I’ve embarrassed myself.

The author (热到昏厥) has something to say:

I, Re Dao Hun Jue, was destined to be a sweet writer.

[1] Wen Zhihan said “小心”(xiǎo xīn) which can be taken as either a childish nickname for Shao Cixin (literally “Little Xin”) or the common phrase “be careful.” So Shao Cixin thought Wen Zhihan was referring to the former, only to be embarrassed when she found out it was the latter.

You should check out “After Being Scummed”, quickly becoming one of my fave BaiHe novels, and similar premise to this one!

for sure, translation is a good topic for reviews, though I didn’t have much trouble following the later chapters. I think part of it is it can get pretty confusing who’s talking or who “she” refers to – though I do think LP does a good job of translating the poems.

I think there is an error in the link to this chapter in the novelupdates. It instead take me to the review of the dragon.

Side note: And I totally agree with the review.
