Chapter 83 – We’ll Deal With This Later Tonight

On a cool winter night, moonlight spilled over the snow-free ground.

In one universe, Shao Cixin left the bathroom and pulled Wen Zhihan into bed.

The air was so frosty that even with the heat on, people still sought the comfort of their blankets.

Shao Cixin hugged Wen Zhihan’s waist and looked at her without blinking.

The newly formed couple discussed their happiness.

Ever since they laid bare their hearts, Shao Cixin only had eyes for Wen Zhihan. The more she looked, the more she fell for her. At this moment, she couldn’t even take her gaze away.

This was Wen Zhihan. This was the Wen Zhihan she’d longed for in her heart.

Wen Zhihan also liked her back. More than Shao Cixin had imagined, and for even longer than Shao Cixin dared to hope.

When she first found out that Wen Zhihan was also reborn, she couldn’t clearly explain her emotions. But now, her joy overshadowed everything.

It just so happened that the heavens allowed the three of them to be reborn at the same time.

For Wen Yu, her rebirth holds extremely profound educational significance.

But for Shao Cixin and Wen Zhihan, their rebirths were a chance to make up for the shortcomings of the past and ensure that they would never miss each other again.

Their fingers hooked together, and their gazes intertwined.

At this moment, they only had each other in their eyes and hearts, and they could no longer accept anyone else.

Shao Cixin raised her head to kiss Wen Zhihan’s lips.

After their long absence from each other’s lives, Wen Zhihan’s familiar tenderness made Shao Cixin feel particularly attached to her, and she couldn’t help but reach out for more.

Wen Zhihan responded to Shao Cixin’s desires, letting her possess whatever she wanted and indulging in her needs.

This was the first time they openly kissed each other in the name of love.

There was no written agreement between them anymore.

From tonight onward, they were each other’s true wives, partners who would stay together for the rest of their lives, and nothing could break them.

“Jiejie…”

Shao Cixin was overwhelmed with emotion. She stroked Wen Zhihan’s beautiful lips with her long, white fingers as if she were tracing a piece of art.

“My beautiful Mrs. Shao.”

Wen Zhihan responded softly, patient and doting.

This was her Cixin. This was her Mrs. Wen.

Wen Zhihan had finally obtained her heart, and they were together. There could be nothing more beautiful than this in the world.

“Zhihan.”

“Yes.”

“Wen Zhihan.”

“I’m here.”

“Wife~”

“I’m here.”

A beam of light spread across Shao Cixin’s face, and she opened her arms to embrace Wen Zhihan tightly. She was so happy she was kicking her legs on the bed.

Then, she suddenly asked, “In your previous life, did you have a girlfriend?”

She didn’t see Wen Zhihan in love before she died, and she had no way of knowing after she died.

Now that the person herself was here, and she was Shao Cixin’s legitimate wife, Shao Cixin felt like she had a right to know.

She wouldn’t be angry. She was just curious.

Wen Zhihan responded very calmly, “No.”

Shao Cixin blinked. “Why not?”

Wen Zhihan caressed her face. She said seriously, “I never let you go, so I couldn’t become devoted to another person. Since this was the case, it would be irresponsible for me to look for another person.”

Shao Cixin was her younger self’s dream, and she was also a fantasy that Wen Zhihan couldn’t let go of.

There would never be another sun as brilliant as Shao Cixin in her life.

Because she understood herself clearly, she didn’t want to let Shao Cixin down.

When Shao Cixin heard Wen Zhihan’s words, her heart became soft again, and she couldn’t control her emotions.

“Oh, Wen Zhihan, I’m going to cry again…”

Wen Zhihan couldn’t help but laugh. She gently stroked Shao Cixin’s forehead and asked, “What are you crying for?”

Shao Cixin said, “I’m crying for how much you suffered in your last life.”

Wen Zhihan didn’t care. She smiled lightly.

Shao Cixin felt heartbroken. “If I could’ve liked you earlier, you wouldn’t have to suffer for so long. It’s all my fault…”

Wen Zhihan immediately pulled her into a kiss. “It’s not your fault. It’s not too late for you to like me now, right?”

But Shao Cixin wasn’t satisfied.

Wrapped in Wen Zhihan’s arms, she responded coquettishly, “But if I could’ve liked you earlier, we might’ve been together for two lifetimes. Isn’t this a guaranteed profit[1]?

Wen Zhihan laughed when she heard this. “Cixin’s calculations are very good.”

Sure enough, her wife was resourceful.

It was just that their reincarnation was such a low-probability event that it may never happen again.

It was possible that the heavens took pity on them and performed a miracle for them because they had missed each other in their previous life, hoping that they could take the initiative to strive for their own happiness.

But no one could know for sure the strange and chaotic movements of the universe.

Shao Cixin said shamelessly, “Of course.”

Then she began acting coquettishly. “Wen Zhihan, I really like you…”

“You don’t even know that I was watching your videos to stay alive the whole way back to Fengcheng. As long as there’s a clip of you, there’s definitely going to be a Shao Cixin in this world!

“Hey hey, my wife is so pretty.”

Shao Cixin smiled like a lovestruck idiot.

Wen Zhihan listened to Shao Cixin’s relentless flirting and couldn’t help but find her hopelessly adorable.

But at this moment, she finally remembered something important—

“Cixin, why was your phone turned off?”

Shao Cixin blinked and answered Wen Zhihan with an innocent expression, “I was so focused on your videos that I forgot to charge it.”

Wen Zhihan: “…”

She never could’ve imagined that it was because of such a reason…

Wen Zhihan embraced Shao Cixin in her arms. She kissed her again and again, unwilling to stop.

“Cixin, please pay attention to your battery level in the future and try to make sure I can reach you, okay?” she advised. “There was a car accident on Chengbin Avenue today. I couldn’t get in touch with you, so I was really worried and scared.”

Wen Zhihan lowered her head, and her eyes were filled with unyielding sorrow, as if she had been transported back to the scene of the car accident in her previous life, once again suffering from the pain of losing the person she loved…

When Shao Cixin saw Wen Zhihan’s reaction, she immediately remembered the Wen Zhihan she had seen on the sidewalk.

Like she had lost her soul and mentally collapsed, her usual composure completely fractured.

Shao Cixin’s death in their previous life had cast an unimaginable and indelible shadow on Wen Zhihan’s heart.

Shao Cixin became distressed for Wen Zhihan, so she immediately promised, “I will always bring a power bank from now on. As soon as the battery on my phone drops to 50%, I will charge it right away so you can find me anytime, okay?”

She continued, “I’ll give you Sister Rong’s number later. Her phone is always on. If you can’t get in contact with me, you can call her. Situations like today will never happen again in the future. I promise!”

Wen Zhihan’s furrowed brows gradually relaxed. “Mm…”

Shao Cixin took Wen Zhihan’s hand in hers and said, “Zhihan, don’t be afraid. What happened in our previous life has passed, and I am still alive.”

She rubbed their palms together. “Feel my hand. It’s warm, very warm.”

Then she leaned into Wen Zhihan’s touch. “And also my body. I’m here, I’m by your side, and I’m living happily.”

With gentle waves in her eyes, she leaned down to kiss Wen Zhihan’s hands. “So don’t be afraid. It’s passed. I’m fine.”

“Cixin…”

Wen Zhihan raised her fingers and caressed Shao Cixin’s face, feeling like she was in a dream.

Shao Cixin belonged to her. Wen Zhihan had finally caught up to her, and they would never be separated again. They would stay together for the rest of their lives. Could this be anything other than a dream?

“I’m here, jiejie.”

Shao Cixin’s voice suddenly pulled Wen Zhihan back to reality.

Wen Zhihan couldn’t help but smile. She put her forehead against Shao Cixin’s and admitted softly, “Cixin, this all feels like a beautiful dream to me.”

“It is a dream.” Shao Cixin held her close and whispered in her ear, “For us, it’s a beautiful dream that has come true.

I adore you, and I craved you.

Little did I know, you and I had already been in love with each other long ago.

The smile on Wen Zhihan’s lips grew thicker, and her eyes were full of adoration.

She embraced the person in her arms tightly, consumed with emotion and satisfaction.

You were my dazzling dream when I was young, and also my fantasy which I loved for two lifetimes, unwilling to let go.

I pursued you and reached for you like the sun.

And finally, you belong to me.

“Cixin, my Cixin,” Wen Zhihan whispered. “I love you, and I will always love you, forever.”

“Me too.” Shao Cixin was moved, and her eyes were slightly red. “I love you very very much, and I will love you to the end of time.”

After going in circles, she had finally met the person she was destined to be with.

She was glad she hadn’t missed her.

From now on, she would never let Wen Zhihan suffer the pain of unrequited love again. She would love her Mrs. Shao so sweetly until their teeth hurt every day!

Shao Cixin hugged Wen Zhihan tighter. She thought for a moment, then asked, “You’ve liked me since high school… Did you ever think about confessing?”

She wondered, “Or were you afraid of violating the school rules and regulations?”

Wen Zhihan smiled and said, “I confessed… Somewhat.”

Shao Cixin was stunned. “How come I didn’t know?!”

Heavens, she missed her wife’s confession in high school!

Wasn’t this the equivalent of missing one hundred million dollars?!

“Because you tore it up.”

“Tore it up?! I did it myself??”

“Yes.”

“Ah???”

Wen Zhihan smiled and recounted the incident with her disciplinary notebook, adding her own perspective.

After listening to Wen Zhihan’s story, Shao Cixin was stunned.

Then she playfully tightened her hands around Wen Zhihan’s shoulder and said, amused, “You have to understand, that was a disciplinary notebook. Who would’ve thought that their name written on those pages was actually a sign of love?”

She continued, “I was almost scared to death. I really thought that I’d offended you countless times, so I tore up your book. I was even afraid that you’d try to find me to settle the score between us.”

Shao Cixin scratched her face. “It turned out to be…a misunderstanding on my part. I really didn’t expect it.”

Wen Zhihan lowered her head and looked at Shao Cixin, her expression inexplicably pitiful.

“Cixin, I didn’t write my name, class number, or student number on that page, and I also used the notebook as a scrapbook…” She explained, “It was my first time falling in love with someone, so I had no experience.”

Shao Cixin thought Wen Zhihan was very cute, so she couldn’t help but kiss her and pinch her face. “It’s okay. It’s not too unfortunate. I was such an arrogant fart back then anyway. If you confessed to me, you would’ve been rejected.”

She added, “It would’ve been best if we went to the same university. My bad temper started to calm down a lot after high school, and I began to want to fall in love. If we went to the same university, the person I liked would’ve definitely been you.”

As if it was destiny, she couldn’t escape Wen Zhihan’s tenderness.

For her, falling in love with Wen Zhihan was just a matter of time.

Wen Zhihan also felt deeply regretful about this.

If she had just been braver and asked Shao Cixin about her preferred university, their outcome might’ve been completely different…

Seeing that the atmosphere was about to collapse, Shao Cixin tactfully changed the topic.

She changed it to something she had been curious about for a long, long time.

“Mrs. Shao.” Shao Cixin smiled and peered into Wen Zhihan’s beautiful blue eyes. “Can you tell me now, how is it that you know how to start a ‘discussion?’”

Wen Zhihan was also unwilling to conceal anything from Shao Cixin anymore.

She held Shao Cixin’s hand, lowered her eyes, and confessed, “When I was in high school, a friend showed me some things[2]. Since then…I’ve dreamed of you more than once.”

The dreams probably began after she watched Shao Cixin dance at the school art festival.

At first, Wen Zhihan’s feelings for Shao Cixin were still vague.

After Xu Zhouzhou educated her on some various manners of expertise, and after she watched Shao Cixin dance on stage, her feelings gradually blossomed in her dreams.

She began to dream about her junior sister Shao Cixin.

Her dreams were often so absurd and ambiguous that she woke up in shock, breaking into a cold sweat at the memory.

This was her first experience with love.

And it was with Shao Cixin, the beautiful junior sister who refused to change despite repeated warnings and admonitions.

Worst of all, Wen Zhihan gradually discovered that she didn’t resent it.

She even occasionally wondered what it would feel like to kiss Shao Cixin on the lips.

During this period of time, she thought she was completely ridiculous.

On the surface, she was a ruthless disciplinary committee member.

But in reality, her mind was filled with thoughts of early love, which completely violated the school rules and regulations.

It wasn’t until later that she confirmed her feelings for Shao Cixin and decided not to run anymore.

She accepted all of her feelings calmly, and she also accepted the Shao Cixin that would regularly appear in her dreams.

Even after she went to university and started working, she would sometimes still think of this lively and mischievous junior sister from high school—including in her dreams.

She never told anyone about this, and she didn’t dare to confess to Shao Cixin without confirming their relationship.

After hearing Wen Zhihan’s story, Shao Cixin’s expression suddenly became very ambiguous.

—Ahh, so it turns out that the object of my wife’s fantasies has always been me~

She covered her lips and looked at Wen Zhihan with a meaningful smile.

“On the surface, she’s an unreasonable disciplinary committee member, but behind everyone’s backs, she treats others like this and that in her dreams.

“Senior Sister, you’re so annoying~”

The tips of Wen Zhihan’s ears turned red with embarrassment.

She raised her hand to cover her eyes.

Her tone couldn’t help but become shy. “Please, let’s let this matter go.”

Cuddled in her arms, Shao Cixin’s smile widened even more.

Her Wen Zhihan was so cute!

She was so happy that they met and fell in love!

After the New Year’s holiday, Wen Zhihan returned to work.

Shao Cixin was still on vacation. Other than the few days before the new year when she left to record a program, the rest of her month off was extremely leisurely.

Since she had free time, she naturally looked for some things to do, such as going to Guanglan to find her wife, staying in her office, and accompanying her as she worked.

After Wen Zhihan received Shao Cixin’s message, she went to pick her up. But this time, she went to the parking lot instead of the gate.

“Mrs. Shao—!”

She first heard Shao Cixin’s joyful voice from far away, and then she saw a figure running towards her, jumping into her vision.

Shao Cixin’s black boots stomped on the ground. The spring breeze blew on her face, the long tan coat on her body fluttered with the wind.

Her long black hair rose in the air, and her eyes were beautiful and lively, like a forest spirit.

She threw herself into Wen Zhihan’s arms and said in a sweet voice, “Mrs. Shao, your wife has been delivered. Please sign the receipt.”

Wen Zhihan smiled and kissed her.

Shao Cixin said, “The receipt was successfully authorized. Thank you for choosing this business, and you’re welcome to continue utilizing our services.”

Wen Zhihan stroked her hair gently. “Did you drive here by yourself?”

Shao Cixin nodded.

Wen Zhihan asked, “Are you driving again?”

Shao Cixin responded proudly, “Yes, that’s right. For you, I have overcome my psychological barriers. From now on, I can even drive you to and from work.”

Her tone was full of pride, along with a desire for praise.

After Wen Zhihan heard Shao Cixin, she couldn’t help but stroke her face and say, “Our Cixin is very impressive.”

Then she asked, “Are you cold?”

Shao Cixin obediently took her hands out of her pockets and placed them in Wen Zhihan’s palms. “Nope.”

Wen Zhihan held her hands. When the heat transferred from Shao Cixin’s fingertips to hers, she was slightly surprised. “How are your hands so warm?”

Shao Cixin raised her eyebrows. Then she smiled and took two small hand warmers out from her pocket. “Here.”

From now on, she would prepare hand warmers every winter for Wen Zhihan’s sake.

She didn’t want Wen Zhihan to remember the painful memories from her previous life ever again.

She hoped that from now on, all that she would bring to Wen Zhihan was sweetness and happiness.

“I’ll give one to you.” Shao Cixin stuffed one of her paw-shaped hand warmers in Wen Zhihan’s hand. “After all, you also need to keep warm!”

The two of them chatted as they walked to the elevator together.

Shao Cixin said, “I ordered us some tea.  I also ordered delivery for Guanglan’s employees. It will arrive in a few minutes. This time, I can eat with you.”

“Then Cixin should eat more. When you’re filming, you barely eat anything.”

“Okay. By the way, one of my movies will be released in a few days. I heard from Sister Rong that a producer has invited you to attend the premiere. Will you go?”

“I’ll go because my Mrs. Wen seems to want me to go.”

Shao Cixin’s eyes immediately bloomed into a peach-blossom smile.

She very much liked the way Wen Zhihan responded to her requests.

“Wen Zhihan, do you think I can win the Best Actress award this year?”

“Yes.”

“Your answer was so quick. But what if I can’t?”

“No matter what happens, you will always be the best actress in my heart.”

Shao Cixin was startled by Wen Zhihan’s answer, then her smile widened.

She had to admit that she liked being coaxed.

“My family’s Zhihan’s words are so nice to listen to~”

In the CEO’s office, Shao Cixin sat on the sofa and accompanied Wen Zhihan as she worked.

Their bodies were pressed against each other, and Shao Cixin rested her head on her wife’s shoulder as she played with her phone.

Wen Zhihan let Shao Cixin lean on her as she allocated half her energy to deal with work.

Shao Cixin eventually grew bored of her phone and secretly looked up to observe her wife.

When Wen Zhihan worked, her eyes were serious and focused, which was very attractive.

Wen Zhihan seemed to be favored by the heavens. No matter what she did, she looked perfect and flawless while doing it, making people fond of her and yearn for her.

Such a beautiful person would definitely be made even more beautiful in a wedding dress…

Shao Cixin’s thoughts drifted as she watched Wen Zhihan silently.

Wen Zhihan knew nothing about what was going on in Shao Cixin’s head, and she continued focusing on her work. Whenever she encountered any problems she couldn’t solve on her own, she would call her secretary and explain each problem one by one.

Her tone was as gentle as always, and it was very pleasant to hear.

Shao Cixin sat next to Wen Zhihan in these moments, her ears satisfied by the sound of Wen Zhihan’s voice.

Suddenly, an idea came to her mind.

She cupped her chin, put her legs on Wen Zhihan’s thighs, and asked, “Wen Zhihan, do you know what we are like?”

“What?” Wen Zhihan asked.

Shao Cixin raised her brows and said, “The gentle president and her little eagle wife.”

Wen Zhihan: “?”

“The little what wife…?”

“Sculpture[3].”

“?”

“The ‘diao’ is for ‘sculpture,’ as in sand sculpture[4].”

Wen Zhihan “…”

Shao Cixin clearly possessed a very good understanding of herself.

But her classification seemed to be up in the air again. Especially when it came to what species she belonged to.

Wen Zhihan hugged her and asked, “Didn’t you say you were a puppy before?”

Shao Cixin: “?”

Damn, she actually remembered my flag[5]!

But it didn’t matter. She, Shao Cixin, was as thick-skinned as they come!

“Yes, that’s right. I’m a puppy.”

As she spoke, she scrambled her hair and pressed it into the crook of Wen Zhihan’s neck. Her tone became soft, as if she was seducing someone.

“As my jiejie’s dog, I can lick her the best~”

After she finished saying her line, Shao Cixin bit her hard on the neck, showing her sister how good she was at ‘licking.’”

Wen Zhihan’s fingers trembled slightly.

She pressed Shao Cixin into her arms, the tips of her ears quietly turning red.

Although they’d shared countless skin-to-skin kisses, she became a little embarrassed when she heard Shao Cixin suddenly speak so boldly in her office.

She lowered her voice and whispered in Shao Cixin’s ear, “We’ll deal with this later tonight.”

The author (热到昏厥) has something to say:

A Collection of a Dog’s Hooks and Sexy Lines

More than 5,000 words!

I am so talented at writing sweet love plots. I am indeed a writer of sweets!

Wengu Zhixin is too sweet!

[1] “稳赚不赔” (wěn zhuàn bù péi), literally “guaranteed profit with no loss.”

[2] Just to be clear, in Chinese, Wen Zhihan says, “被朋友带着看了些东西,” with the key word “看” (kàn) or “see.” So, Xu Zhouzhou only took her to “see” some things (probably a video), and WZH didn’t “experience” anything with her. In English, there might be a misunderstanding because our ambiguity with the word “show,” hence the footnote.

[3] In the text, Shao Cixin is playing a pun on the word “雕” (diāo) for ‘sculpture.’ Verbally and out of context, the sound “diāo” is identical to the sound “鵰” (diāo) for eagle, making it confusing for Wen Zhihan. 雕 is also the simplified form of 鵰, so the pun works on a textual level as well.

[4] See: Chapter 53 – A common internet slang to describe people (in this case, netizens) who participate in weird or stupid but funny behaviors. Usually with a lot of memes.

[5] See: Chapter 58 – Flag is written here as the English “flag” in the original Chinese text. It’s an internet slang that comes from the idea of a plot flag in a video game. In other words, a “flag” “foreshadows” an event to come. So, by saying “For Wen Zhihan, any flag could be broken,” Shao Cixin is saying, for Wen Zhihan, she’s willing to re-adjust any of her values.

Lmao a self operated wife delivery service. I love the way this series is wrapping up, it’s a good mix of emotional depth from the triple regression (which I totally called) and the quippy writing we’ve all come to love from this author.
