Review: The Fall That Saved Us

By

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You know I can’t resist a gorgeous cover.

In The Fall That Saved Us, the nephilim Cassiel runs away from her abusive demon-hunting family to start an independent bookshop. Three years later, Cassiel is making small gains, but the arrival of a succubus and a visit from her older sister threaten to unravel her progress.

Hellishly sexy and heart-wrenchingly emotional, The Fall That Saved Us serves equal parts danger and thrill at a breakneck pace. I wish the novel had more time to breathe, especially in the last act—you can almost feel the narrative racing to the end.

Despite this, I still found myself falling in love with the characters and their plights. Cassiel is a goodie bag of emotional and physical trauma, but she’s also so good and precious you can’t help but want to give her a big hug.

A true paladin, she devotes all of herself to her lover, the fallen-angel-turned-succubus Avitue. Refreshingly, there is never any doubt that these women would sacrifice anything for each other. Now, they must find a way to shape the world to their will.
