Chapter 91 (Extra) – Campus Love 1

Shao Cixin, the daughter of the Shao Group, was a second year in high school[1].

This year, she unexpectedly became friends with the third-year student Jiang Yanqing.

Jiang Yanqing was her ex-ally, a fellow former academic discipline violator.

Thinking back on it, Shao Cixin realized now that it was Jiang Yanqing who showed her how Wen Zhihan used ruthlessness to defeat ruthlessness.

He was the one who allowed Shao Cixin to witness the spectacular scene where Wen Zhihan led a group of bodyguards to the school gate and blockaded people from leaving as she wrote down the names of violators in her disciplinary notebook.

Later on, it was Jiang Yanqing who told her that Wen Zhihan planned to quit the Disciplinary Inspection Committee in her third year to concentrate on studying for the Gaokao.

At that time, neither Shao Cixin nor Jiang Yanqing expected that they would become friends in the future, and they were still in an important stage where Jiang Yanqing was also studying for the Gaokao.

“You must study hard, Senior.” When Shao Cixin saw Jiang Yanqing’s careless look, she couldn’t help but speak seriously.

Jiang Yanqing waved his hand. “Don’t be so anxious. My brain isn’t working right now. Memorizing too many things has impacted its functions, so I’ll take it slow for a bit before continuing.”

Shao Cixin: “?”

Jiang Yanqing admitted that his brain wasn’t working well so fast that Shao Cixin didn’t know if she should praise him for being self-aware?!

But it didn’t take long for Shao Cixin to see him begin working hard.

His back was just short of a metal beam, with a cone sticking up his buttocks!

After school, they sat at a small stone table behind campus and waited for their families to pick them up.

For once, the extremely popular Jiang Yanqing didn’t go out to play with his friends. Instead, he sat obediently and opened a book to study, until he looked like he’d returned to being a primitive ancestor.

Facing a huge sea of questions, Jiang Yanqing, who was not very bright, couldn’t help but scratch his head and ears[2].

…Mom, was this something really made by humans?

Wasn’t this the same as destroying the flowers and bones of the motherland[3]!

He didn’t understand how Wen Zhihan and Xu Zhouzhou could remain in their grade’s top ten.

How did they grow such smart brains?

Why couldn’t he have a brain like that?

Shouldn’t the gap between people be smaller? Did it have to be so wide?

Shao Cixin was only a second year in high school, so she wasn’t under as much pressure. At this moment, she was holding her face in her hands and watching Jiang Yanqing’s bitter expression.

She said sympathetically, “If you can’t do it now, why don’t you wait a little longer? You shouldn’t drive yourself crazy either.”

But Jiang Yanqing solemnly refused to take a break.

“No, my brain is not very good. If I don’t work hard, I won’t be able to catch up.”

“?”

Shao Cixin said, “That’s not what you said before.”

“It’s different now, little sister,” Jiang Yanqing told her, “Your older brother has a goal now, understand?”

He bit the tip of his pen and raised his eyes to look at the school building, not stopping until he reached a certain window.

A window into the class of the person he liked.

“I want to get into Fengcheng[4] University, our best university.”

Shao Cixin raised her eyebrows.

Seeing Jiang Yanqing’s longing expression, she immediately understood. She couldn’t help but poke his arm with her elbow.

“Do you have someone you like?” she asked, “Who is it? From which grade? Do I know her? Is she good-looking?”

Jiang Yanqing didn’t hide who it was. He raised his eyes in excitement. “Xu Zhouzhou.”

Shao Cixin: “?”

She couldn’t remember who this Xu Zhouzhou was.

Jiang Yanqing became anxious when he realized what Shao Cixin was thinking. He quickly helped her remember.

“It’s the Xu Zhouzhou from the Student Council, the one who’s familiar with Wen Zhihan!” he exclaimed. “You can’t forget Wen Zhihan, right? When you were a monkey in your first year, she was the mixed-race disciplinary inspection committee member who acted as your Wuzhishan[5]!

“…”

Shao Cixin felt speechless and replied, “Do you think Sun Wukong could forget the Wuzhishan that suppressed him for five hundred years?”

To be honest, her heart still hurts whenever anyone mentioned Wen Zhihan.

She thought again of her glorious record in Wen Zhihan’s disciplinary notebook.

Although they’ve rarely seen each other since, and Wen Zhihan did not confront her about the torn-away page, Shao Cixin’s eyes would still jump every time someone mentioned her name, and she continued to feel a lingering fear.

She couldn’t help but sigh.

Jiang Yanqing noticed and asked, “Is something wrong?”

Seeing that Jiang Yanqing was also someone who was afflicted by the same pain of being caught by Wen Zhihan, she briefly explained the situation to him.

After she finished, Jiang Yanqing took a deep breath and applauded her.

Shao Cixin: “?”

“You’re too awesome. I don’t even dare to have her write down a page of my name. Otherwise, my dad would break my legs.” he said.

“As expected, Uncle Shao still loves you very much. He even comes to pick you up after getting off work. I’m very envious.”

After saying this, Jiang Yanqing showed an appropriate look of envy.

Shao Cixin: “…”

Jiang Yanqing’s ability to focus on the “key” points was excellent.

“Let’s not talk about her. Let’s talk about you and Xu Zhouzhou,” Shao Cixin said, “Is she aiming for Fengcheng University?”

Jiang Yanqing nodded. “That’s right.”

Shao Cixin asked, “Does she know you like her?”

Jiang Yanqing said, “She knows.”

Shao Cixin was shocked. “You’re actually so direct?”

“Of course,” Jiang Yanqing told her. “What’s the point of hiding something like this?”

“Dating is prohibited.[6]

When it came to violating the school rules, Shao Cixin felt that, in this aspect, Jiang Yanqing was braver than herself.

Jiang Yanqing scratched his head. “I know that. But I just want her to know that I like her. It’s not like I’m forcing her to like me back.”

To him, confession meant telling the other person his feelings, not asking them to reciprocate.

He didn’t like forced love, finding it meaningless.

Shao Cixin couldn’t help but become curious. “How did she reply to you? Were you rejected?”

Jiang Yanqing spun his pen in his fingers and said, “Well, she told me that she didn’t want to talk about it now. The Gaokao is more important, so we’ll discuss it later.”

Upon hearing the word “later,” Shao Cixin instantly understood.

At this moment, she heard Shao Heng’s voice calling her, “Xin Xin.”

Looking in the direction of the sound, Shao Cixin saw her father walking towards her.

She picked up her schoolbag and hurriedly patted Jiang Yanqing on the shoulder, saying, “There’s still a long way to go. You can do it! Study hard and get into Fengcheng University, then discuss it with Xu Zhouzhou. I’m leaving. Bye-bye!”

“Bye-bye.”

The wind blew through the treetops, rustling the leaves, and the falling sun filled the schoolyard.

Jiang Yanqing sat alone at the small stone table, studying hard, mercilessly beaten by the waves of knowledge again and again.

Finally, he couldn’t help but take out his phone and send a message to Xu Zhouzhou.

[Jiang Yanqing]: Zhouzhou, I don’t know how to do a lot of questions. Do you have time to tutor me this weekend?

[Jiang Yanqing]: I’ll treat you to something good!

[Zhouzhou]: Which ones can’t you do?

Jiang Yanqing didn’t bother with the courtesies. He directly sent Xu Zhouzhou a photo of his entire page of questions.

[Zhouzhou]: …

[Zhouzhou]: Tomorrow morning at nine o’clock. The same place.

[Zhouzhou]: Remember to bring a new notebook.

Jiang Yanqing beamed with joy.

—His plan worked!

On Saturday, Wen Zhihan relaxed at home.

She originally wanted to ask Xu Zhouzhou to go out with her to buy books, but Jiang Yanqing got to their friend first and asked Xu Zhouzhou to personally tutor him.

In this case, Wen Zhihan might as well stay at home and recharge for the day.

Lying on bed, she stared at the ceiling.

Speaking of Jiang Yanqing, she recently saw him and Shao Cixin getting closer.

Could it be that…Shao Cixin liked someone like Jiang Yanqing?

So Shao Cixin definitely didn’t like people of the same sex…

Her memories returned to the day when Shao Cixin tore off that piece of paper.

Remembering this, she slowly closed her eyes, and her mood suddenly became heavy.

…Shao Cixin must hate her, right?

In the evening, Xu Zhouzhou surprised Wen Zhihan with a visit, carrying a bag of new books in her hands.

Wen Zhihan’s mother, Joanna, warmly welcomed her and prepared juice for the two of them. Then she sent them off to have fun in Wen Zhihan’s room.

After their parents left, Xu Zhouzhou took out the new books and put them on the table. She checked over them once before saying, “Here, these are the ones you wanted to buy. I got them for you.”

Wen Zhihan glanced at the table. She slowly smiled and asked, “Why did you suddenly decide to come?”

Xu Zhouzhou took off her backpack. “When I was tutoring Jiang Yanqing, I encountered a few problems that were difficult to solve, so I decided to stop by and ask you.”

She sighed deeply. “You know I can’t sleep at night if there’s a problem I can’t understand, so please save this child who is going to take the Gaokao, Student Tyrant[7] Wen.”

Wen Zhihan’s lips curved. She sat down at the other end of the table, then asked softly, “What problems are they?”

Xu Zhouzhou beamed at her, diligently opening her study book.

Wen Zhihan picked up a pen and lowered her gaze to read the questions.

The atmosphere was studious until they had solved all the problems.

Xu Zhouzhou relaxed. She had learned a few more solutions from Wen Zhihan, and she could teach them to Jiang Yanqing later.

She just didn’t know if he could remember it in his head.

“By the way, I heard something from Jiang Yanqing today.” Xu Zhouzhou put the book away and raised her eyes to look at Wen Zhihan. “Did you actually write a whole page of Shao Cixin’s name?”

Wen Zhihan was startled when she heard this.

When the old incident was brought into the open again, a sense of fear overflowed her heart.

She never mentioned her crush on Shao Cixin to anyone, not even Xu Zhouzhou.

Not only because she never thought about telling other people, but also because she never felt that there was a need to tell other people.

After all, she had been rejected.

And she was unsure about Xu Zhouzhou’s views on homosexuality. They had never encountered anything related to the topic since they were young.

But when this “related issue” suddenly appeared in front of them, Wen Zhihan began to fear that even Xu Zhouzhou, whom she had grown up with since childhood, would feel disgusted by her because of her sexual orientation…

She looked away and said nothing. Her hand tightened around her juice box.

The next second, Wen Zhihan heard Xu Zhouzhou ask curiously, “Was Shao Cixin so outrageous when she was a first year? She actually made you write down her name on a whole page? Did she really offend you?”

Wen Zhihan: “?”

This understanding seemed to be different from what she expected?

Confused, she probed Xu Zhouzhou, “Do you think I wrote her name because she violated the school rules?”

Xu Zhouzhou took a sip of her juice box and asked as if it was obvious, “Why else did you write her name in a disciplinary notebook?”

Wen Zhihan frowned. “Does she think so too?”

Xu Zhouzhou answered, “Yeah, Jiang Yanqing said she thought she’d offended you.”

“Nothing else?”

“What else should there be?”

Wen Zhihan: “…”

Wen Zhihan was left speechless.

She never expected that there was a misunderstanding.

In her eyes, the disciplinary notebook was just another notebook. In addition to recording names, she also used it as scratch paper.

But Shao Cixin didn’t think so. After all, her parents were repeatedly called by the school because of this one notebook.

So no matter how messily Wen Zhihan wrote her name, Shao Cixin would never think that it was because of love.

Wen Zhihan’s mood was complicated. She didn’t know if she should laugh or cry.

She felt helpless over the misunderstanding, but joy that Shao Cixin did not hate her because of her sexual orientation.

If this was the case, then could she…could she try to get close to her?

No, that wasn’t right.

Shao Cixin didn’t know Wen Zhihan liked her, and Wen Zhihan didn’t know what type of person Shao Cixin liked, not to mention that Shao Cixin had recently become so close to Jiang Yanqing…

Wen Zhihan’s eyes turned dark, and the flames of joy that had just emerged in her pupils were extinguished.

The path of love was complicated and mysterious.

At this moment, a faint voice fell into her ears. “Zhihan, don’t tell me you like her?”

—Xu Zhouzhou discovered it.

Wen Zhihan’s breaths stopped for a moment, and she unconsciously squeezed the juice box in her hand.

While she was still young and couldn’t keep her composure like her father, Wen Xingyun[8], she was still capable of calming down quickly.

But this time, she couldn’t deny it to Xu Zhouzhou.

Or rather, she didn’t want to deny it.

There was nothing wrong with liking someone, so why would it be wrong to like someone of the same gender?

True friends respected each other, so how could a true friend hate her and leave her simply because of her sexual orientation?

Since she had already accepted her feelings for Shao Cixin, what was the point of running away again? Shouldn’t she be more honest…?

But before she could speak, Xu Zhouzhou unexpectedly beat her to it,

“If you like her, you like her. It doesn’t matter,” she said. “I can like that idiot Jiang Yanqing, so what’s the big deal with you liking a girl?”

Wen Zhihan: “…”

It wasn’t quite the same…

“I thought you would hate me,” Wen Zhihan said softly.

“Why would I hate you? Have you forgotten all the times I sent those videos with different sexual orientations? If I hated it, I wouldn’t even click on them.” Xu Zhouzhou’s face was neutral.

Wen Zhihan was stunned for a moment, then she couldn’t help but chuckle.

She had once again ignored the details because of her anxiety.

What’s more, she didn’t expect that she could come out so smoothly in front of her friend.

After Xu Zhouzhou finished speaking, she realized what she was doing and said in surprise, “Wait, it couldn’t be that you were bent because of the stuff I sent you, right?! Oh my god!”

Wen Zhihan shook her head, signaling to Xu Zhouzhou that she should calm down.

“No, I’ve liked her for a long time.”

Xu Zhouzhou realized it and asked, “What do you like about her?”

Wen Zhihan retorted, “What do you like about Jiang Yanqing?”

Xu Zhouzhou: “…”

They couldn’t tell.

Liking someone was a hazy and unreasonable thing, and the movements of the heart were often elusive to reason.

Maybe it was one smile under a gorgeous autumn sun, maybe it was a moment of deep contemplation with lowered eyes, or maybe it was the instant their fingers touched.

…But when they realized it, they had already fallen.

Yet at the same time, to have feelings for someone was a very pure thing. It didn’t require too many reasons, and it didn’t need to convince others.

If your heart was moved, then you like them. It was irresistible.

Xu Zhouzhou changed the subject. “What are you going to do?”

Wen Zhihan shook her head.

She didn’t know what to do either.

She barely knew Shao Cixin.

She didn’t even have her contact information.

She couldn’t predict what Shao Cixin liked, or what kind of people she liked, or even whether she could accept homosexuals or not.

In this matter, she was not as accomplished as Jiang Yanqing.

Seeing Wen Zhihan’s troubled expression, Xu Zhouzhou said enthusiastically, “Leave it to me. Whatever you want to know, I’ll ask Jiang Yanqing to find out for you!”

Although Jiang Yanqing was not good at studying, he was extremely proficient in interpersonal communication.

As long as he was on their side, Xu Zhouzhou didn’t believe she couldn’t dig something out of Shao Cixin!

But then she contemplated, “We’re about to take the Gaokao. Do we have time to be concerned about these things? Jiang Yanqing confessed to me, and I didn’t even agree to him.”

She was a little worried that Shao Cixin would show disgust for homosexuality, which could affect Wen Zhihan’s mood.

The Gaokao was around the corner, and no one could afford to make mistakes.

But Jiang Yanqing…

Wen Zhihan set down the juice in her hand and raised her eyes to look at Xu Zhouzhou. “She and Jiang Yanqing seem to be very close recently?”

Xu Zhouzhou said, “Ah, this. He said that the two of them were destined to become friends. It was because of…fate?”

Wen Zhihan asked, “What fate?”

Xu Zhouzhou said, “The fate of being caught by you.”

Wen Zhihan: “…”

It was okay to not have such a “fate.”

Xu Zhouzhou quickly guessed Wen Zhihan’s concerns and comforted her.

“It’s okay, she doesn’t like Jiang Yanqing,” she said. “Let’s do this. Tomorrow, I’ll ask Jiang Yanqing to help you question Shao Cixin about what she likes—No, I’ll send a message right now!”

She had been doing her best to tutor him all day long, so asking him for a small favor wasn’t too much!

As Wen Zhihan watched Xu Zhouzhou pull out her phone and quickly type on the screen, her eyes unconsciously betrayed a hint of anticipation.

She had long become incapable of turning a blind eye to anything related to Shao Cixin.

Eight minutes later, their spy Jiang Yanqing replied.

[Jiang Yanqing]: Report! She said she doesn’t like anyone.

[Jiang Yanqing]: Because no one in this world is worthy of a young and beautiful girl like her.

[Jiang Yanqing]: Which unlucky friend of yours likes her?

Wen Zhihan: “…”

Xu Zhouzhou: “…”

“Has she always been so arrogant?” Xu Zhouzhou couldn’t help but quietly set down her phone and ask from the depths of her soul.

Shao Cixin vaguely felt like she had been encountering Wen Zhihan more frequently recently.

She would see her in novel locations like the schoolyard, the canteen, and the stairwell…

These were all places where they might meet by chance.

But Shao Cixin didn’t think too much about it. The school was such a big place, and you could always bump into someone when you came and went.

Moreover, her rebellious track record in her first year of high school had passed, and Wen Zhihan was no longer a Disciplinary Inspection Committee member.

There was nowhere they couldn’t meet—as long as Wen Zhihan didn’t mention The Incident.

As if she could read her mind, Wen Zhihan didn’t once bring it up.

Whenever they met, Wen Zhihan would always meet her eyes and call her “Junior Sister.”

After putting some thought into it, Shao Cixin gradually lowered her guard and included Wen Zhihan at arm’s reach.

Their relationship returned to a delicate balance. They weren’t friends, but they could still greet each other when they met.

After the misunderstanding was resolved, Wen Zhihan had become much more proactive.

She began to pay more attention to where Shao Cixin was, and she tried to take the initiative to greet her. But she often missed the opportunity, because she had taken on a heavy course load and was constantly busy.

Not to mention, third-year and second-year students went on separate breaks.

There was no way she could have a hundred legitimate encounters with Shao Cixin every day like Jiang Yanqing and Xu Zhouzhou did, who spent time reading and studying together to further develop their relationship.

And she still didn’t have Shao Cixin’s contact information.

Xu Zhouzhou found this unacceptable.

Forget love for now. At a bare minimum, you needed to exchange contact information!

So after enduring Xu Zhouzhou’s instigation, Wen Zhihan finally took the initiative to ask Shao Cixin for her contact information.

It was a snowy day, the white flakes falling around them as they stood at the school gate, facing each other.

Wen Zhihan quietly observed Shao Cixin, waiting for her reply.

She still appeared calm on the outside, but in reality, her heart was beating like a drum, and she felt extremely nervous.

She was worried that she was being presumptuous, and she was worried that she would be rejected…

But the next second, she saw Shao Cixin take out her phone.

“Do you want me to add you or you to add me?” her junior sister asked. “Forget it, I’ll add you. What’s your Q/Q number?”

A hint of joy jumped into Wen Zhihan’s eyes.

She opened her phone as a smile bloomed on her face.

Shao Cixin always thought Wen Zhihan was beautiful. Especially her eyes, which looked like sapphires kissed by the heavens. They were so beautiful and dazzling that they were impossible to ignore.

But in this moment, she thought her smile was especially charming.

She had no idea why Wen Zhihan wanted to add her to her contacts.

But her senior sister had such a good temperament, so if she wanted to add her then just add her!

Beautiful people can do whatever they want!

In this way, they successfully obtained each other’s contact information.

On her way back home, Wen Zhihan sat in the car and couldn’t help but click on Shao Cixin’s profile over and over again, the smile in her eyes growing stronger and stronger.

She had just made great progress, and she was very happy.

Fortunately, Shao Cixin didn’t hate her.

But what excuse could she use to chat with her later?

As a busy third-year high school student, what did she need to do to chat more with her second-year crush?

As soon as the question came up in her mind, Wen Zhihan fell into deep contemplation again.

It was not easy to like someone.

At half past seven in the evening, Shao Cixin was in her room doing homework.

Her rebellious phase had passed, and she had turned into a dependable second-year student.

Soon, she would have to begin preparing for the Gaokao. She wanted to do well on her college entrance exams, so she didn’t disappoint her parents.

As she worked, she encountered a difficult problem.

After marking it for later, she solved the other problems first before returning to this one.

In the spirit of never giving up on or abandoning practice questions, she bit on her pencil and thought hard, trying over and over again on her scrap paper.

But she didn’t get the right answer.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t figure out the correct answer. An hour and a half later, she was still stuck on the same problem, unable to figure out what she did wrong.

At this critical juncture, her phone suddenly lit up and displayed a message.

[Senior Sister Wen]: What are you doing?

Her beautiful Senior Sister had taken the initiative to say hello to her.

Shao Cixin put down her pencil and picked up her phone. She would return to the practice question later. For now, she deserved a break.

[Shao Cixin]: Doing homework.

[Shao Cixin]: What does Senior Sister need me for?

[Shao Cixin]: [dog tilting head.jpg]

Sending a cute sticker would make her appear more friendly.

[Senior Sister Wen]: I don’t need you for anything. I just thought I should say hello to you. After all, I was the one who took the initiative to ask for your contact information.”

Shao Cixin raised her eyebrows.

—This Senior Sister was very polite.

[Senior Sister Wen]: Since you’re busy, then I won’t disturb you.

Shao Cixin lowered her head and glanced at her scrap paper. She raised her eyes and replied without thinking: [It’s okay, I’m not busy, and you’re not disturbing me. I just encountered a question I couldn’t solve, so I’m taking a break.]

Even though Wen Zhihan had written her name down so many times in her disciplinary notebook, Shao Cixin still had a good impression of her.

After all, Shao Cixin was the one who violated the school rules, and Wen Zhihan only acted according to the academic policy.

If she hated Wen Zhihan because of this, then she would be too petty.

Wen Zhihan clearly didn’t think any less of her despite her storied history on the pages of her disciplinary notebook.

So long as Wen Zhihan didn’t mention Shao Cixin’s rebellious high school beginnings, Shao Cixin was still willing to talk to her.

After all, this Senior Sister was also a popular figure in their high school!

She quickly received a reply from Wen Zhihan.

[Senior Sister Wen]: Do you need me to help you look at the question? Maybe I can do it.

Shao Cixin raised her eyebrows in surprise, not expecting such a good reward to come from their interaction.

That’s right. Shao Cixin remembered now that Wen Zhihan was very proficient in studying.

[Shao Cixin]: Are you okay with it? I won’t disturb Senior Sister’s time, right?

[Senior Sister Wen]: No. I’ve finished today’s readings.

[Senior Sister Wen]: And helping you with the questions also helps me review.

Shao Cixin felt that Wen Zhihan’s reasoning made sense, so without any mental burdens, she offered up her questions in service to her senior sister.

Wen Zhihan zoomed in on the picture to read the words.

She calculated on her scrap paper for a while and easily solved the question. Then she remembered that Shao Cixin might not have learned the formula she used yet, so she changed the solution.

In the end, she neatly and eloquently wrote down her instructions, the order of the equation especially clear.

After confirming once again that the steps were correct, she took a photo of her paper and sent it to Shao Cixin.

Wen Zhihan was in the middle of composing a text explanation when her thoughts swerved in a different direction.

She deleted her half-written explanation and asked Shao Cixin, [Is it convenient to call? I’m worried that I can’t explain the answer clearly by typing.]

Not only was she worried that she couldn’t explain it clearly, but she was also worried that she would miss the opportunity to talk to Shao Cixin.

—She didn’t want to miss any chances.

After Shao Cixin saw Wen Zhihan’s text, her impression of Wen Zhihan became even better.

Wen Zhihan was actually willing to explain the answer to her on the phone. What kind of goddess senior sister was this? She loved her!

[Shao Cixin]: It’s convenient, it’s convenient.

After her message was sent, a call invitation came over.

Shao Cixin whipped out her headphones and connected them to her phone. Afterward, she obediently greeted, “Senior Sister, hello.”

This was how she asked for help.

Upon hearing Shao Cixin’s voice, Wen Zhihan silently lowered her eyes and covered her lips with her hand, hiding the smile rising at the corner of her lips.

—So cute.

“Mm. Hello, Junior Sister,” Wen Zhihan greeted in return. “Why don’t you open the picture I sent you, and we can talk about it?”

She continued, “If there’s anything I’m not being clear about, just tell me, okay?”

This was the first time Shao Cixin heard Wen Zhihan’s voice over the phone.

Wen Zhihan’s voice was still very mature, but slightly different from what she heard in person. It was lighter, like a gust of wind kissing her ears. Very pleasant.

Shao Cixin was stunned by her own reaction and covered her face in shame.

—Gah, it sounded too good.

“Okay!” Shao Cixin adjusted her seating position and picked up her pencil again. “Senior Sister, just tell me. I’m listening.”

Wen Zhihan entered her tutoring mindset and began to explain the complex solution to Shao Cixin. She spoke in a serious and detailed but easy-to-comprehend manner.

Shao Cixin didn’t have any difficulties absorbing the information, and she quickly understood what she did wrong in her calculations.

Shao Cixin said happily, “Thank you, Senior Sister. I will treat you to milk tea later!”

Wen Zhihan did not refuse the offer.

A cup of milk tea was also an opportunity to meet.

“Okay, then I’ll be waiting for your milk tea.”

She hung up the call.

Shao Cixin picked up her pencil and began writing again.

Without Wen Zhihan’s voice, silence rang in her ears.

It was so quiet that she could hear a pin drop.

After finishing the worksheet and the rest of her homework, Shao Cixin picked up her phone again and looked at her chat history with Wen Zhihan.

The call time icon made her recall the sound of Wen Zhihan’s voice on the phone.

A hint of tenderness she had never heard before, so attractive that she couldn’t help but become a little obsessed with it.

Shao Cixin put down her phone and splayed over her desk. She sighed, unable to contain her melancholy.

Would Wen Zhihan continue to give her lectures, or would she stop after this?

It was too terrible. Shao Cixin hadn’t heard enough of her voice yet…

The author (热到昏厥) has something to say:

#An unlucky friend who falls in love with a beautiful young girl#

#If you like me, how are you unlucky?#

That’s right, in this world, Jiang Yanqing and Xin Xin became friends, so there was further development while they were still in high school.

I welcome everyone to continue reading the campus version of Senior Sister’s Thousand Layer Setup & Strategies.

[1]In China, like in many other Asian countries, high school is divided into three years while middle school is divided into four.

[2] “抓耳挠腮” (zhuā ěr náo sāi), literally “scratch head and ears,” is a Chinese idiom that describes someone feeling anxious or distressed.

[3] “祖国的花朵” (zǔguó de huāduǒ) or “flowers of the motherland” is a common compliment for the children of China. It comes from the 1955 film of the same name.

[4]The name of this university is “奉大” (fèng dà). The “奉” is the same as in 奉城 (Fengcheng) and the “大“ stands for the “大“ in ”大学“ (university), so I’ve decided to translate it as “Fengcheng University.”

[5]Here, Jiang Yanqing is making a reference to Journey to the West. He refers to Shao Cixin as a “monkey) (i.e. the Monkey King) and calls Wen Zhihan her 五指山” (wǔzhǐshān), literally “five finger mountain.” In the beginning of Journey to the West, the arrogant Sun Wukong lost his freedom for five hundred years after he was subdued by Gautama Buddha and pressed down under a giant mountain created from the Buddha’s palm (hence it sometimes being referred to as “Five Finger Mountain”).

[6] See: Chapter 78 – This is actually very common in Chinese high schools. Most dole out punishments if students are found to be dating each other.

[7] Not sure how to directly translate this into English. Xu Zhouzhou refers to Wen Zhihan here as “大学霸” (dà xué bà), which could be translated as something like “big student tyrant/dictator/master.” It’s a Chinese internet/campus buzzword that is used to describe people who study hard, are knowledgeable, and have excellent results in the field, and it can be both a positive and negative description depending on the context.

[8] The original text actually uses the phrase “喜怒不形于色” found in Chapter 75, which is a clever callback to adult Wen Zhihan’s notorious ability to hide her feelings.
