Chapter 60 (Extra) – Happy Birthday

April had arrived, and along with it, Lu Yunshu’s birthday—April 11.

But that afternoon, Lu Yunshu was working overtime at the company and didn’t have time to host any in-office celebrations.

Jin Hanshuang had planned to wait until Lu Yunshu came home to celebrate her birthday with her, but seeing no signs of her return, she simply grabbed the gifts and birthday cake and went straight to Shengtian Capital to find her.

Lu Yunshu knew Jin Hanshuang was coming, so she went down to meet her.

As soon as Jin Hanshuang saw Lu Yunshu in the parking lot, she pulled Lu Yunshu into a big hug. Then she gave her a sweet kiss. “Happy birthday, baby~”

Whenever Lu Yunshu saw her wife, her mood brightened. Smiling, she embraced Lu Yunshu and returned her kiss with a smile. “Thank you, honey.”

Jin Hanshuang handed her a gift bag. “This one’s from me.”

Then she handed her another bag. “And this one’s from Wenxin.”

Lu Yunshu arched her brow. “She knows my birthday?”

Jin Hanshuang nodded. “Yes, because I gave her a little hint.”

Lu Yunshu couldn’t help but laugh.

Jin Hanshuang said, “Don’t worry. When it’s her birthday, I’ll be sure to give you a hint too.”

Lu Yunshu couldn’t help but laugh.

Then Jin Hanshuang held up the cake. It was one slice, enough for just one person. “This is your birthday cake. I figured you wouldn’t have time to eat too much, so I bought a small piece just for you to try.”

She hesitated, “Did I bother you by coming over? I was worried you’d get home late and miss your birthday, so I decided to come…”

This was the first time Jin Hanshuang would celebrate Lu Yunshu’s birthday with her.

Lu Yunshu shook her head. She tucked in Jin Hanshuang’s denim jacket. “No, I’m glad you’re here with me. Let’s go up, it’s windy tonight.”

“Okay~”

The secretary’s office was outside the CEO’s office.

At this hour, it was empty.

The lights had been switched off, which only made the glow leaking from the president’s office even more apparent.

“You’re the only one working overtime?”

“Mm, I still had some tasks to finish today. And I wanted to complete tomorrow’s work too so I could take the day off.”

Jin Hanshuang nodded. “My baby deserves the rest.”

But Lu Yunshu said, “It’s not for rest.”

Jin Hanshuang was confused.

As Jin Hanshuang turned her head, Lu Yunshu leaned in and kissed her lips.

Then Lu Yunshu’s voice fell softly against her ear, “Tomorrow is your birthday. I want to spend it with you.”

Jin Hanshuang blinked, then she couldn’t help but laugh. “What do you mean? You could just come back in the evening and celebrate with me. You don’t have to push yourself so hard.”

But Lu Yunshu replied, “I want to be with you the entire day. This is the first time I get to celebrate your birthday with you.”

Before, with Shen Minghai around, Lu Yunshu had never been able to take part in Jin Hanshuang’s birthday.

Now that they were together, she wanted to make up for all the regrets of the past.

And besides, Jin Hanshuang’s birthday was special.

She didn’t know her real birthday.

April 12 represented the day the orphanage staff had found her, the day that she was abandoned by the world, then accepted back into it.

So Lu Yunshu wanted to stay by her side, to be the one who loved her most in this world.

“What about your own birthday?” Jin Hanshuang asked.

Lu Yunshu pulled Jin Hanshuang, who was both moved and distressed, into her arms. They walked into Lu Yunshu’s office and closed the door.

“Today isn’t over yet. I’ll finish my work soon, and then we can go home to celebrate your birthday. Or…we could celebrate together tomorrow. Tomorrow is your birthday—it can be mine too.”

Hearing that last part lifted Jin Hanshuang’s mood a little. “Alright. Taking a break once in a while is a good thing. Being able to rest well matters more than anything.”

“Mm.” Lu Yunshu gently cupped Jin Hanshuang’s face. “And thank you for coming to keep me company.”

“Do you want me to?” Jin Hanshuang asked.

“I do,” Lu Yunshu replied.

“Then consider this another gift,” Jin Hanshuang said with a smile.

Lu Yunshu let out a soft laugh.

Jin Hanshuang continued, “You’ve been working for so long—are you hungry? Do you want to eat the cake now?”

“Let’s put it in the fridge first. I’ll enjoy it properly once I’m finished here.”

“Alright…have you had dinner yet?”

“Don’t worry, I did.”

Jin Hanshuang was finally reassured. After putting her things away, she obediently sat on the sofa to keep Lu Yunshu company.

She scrolled on her phone while Lu Yunshu worked at her desk.

The office was so quiet that the only sounds that could be heard were the tapping of keys and a pencil scratching across paper.

After a while, even those sounds disappeared.

Lu Yunshu closed her folder, took off her glasses, and pressed her fingers to her brow.

Finally, it was over…

She lifted her head and looked toward the sofa.

It was empty—because Jin Hanshuang was already walking in her direction.

Jin Hanshuang came up behind her and began massaging her shoulders.

“You’ve worked hard, President Lu,” she said. “Is everything done now?”

Lu Yunshu relaxed into her girlfriend’s massage.

She answered softly, “Everything’s done. We can go home now.”

Jin Hanshuang patted Lu Yunshu’s head.

Her eyes wandered around the room, a thought suddenly striking her.

“There’s really no one else here?”

“Mm.”

“What about your aunt?”

“She already left.”

“Ah~” Jin Hanshuang let out a knowing sound.

Just as Lu Yunshu was about to ask what that meant, she saw Jin Hanshuang walk around to the front of her desk.

Jin Hanshuang neatly pushed all of Lu Yunshu’s files to one side, clearing a wide stretch of space on the tabletop.

Then, right in front of her, Jin Hanshuang sat down on it.

Lu Yunshu lowered her eyes.

Jin Hanshuang raised hers.

Their eyes met.

Lu Yunshu arched her brows ever so slightly.

The weariness in her gaze vanished at once, replaced with hungry interest as she gazed down at her girlfriend. “What’s wrong?”

Jin Hanshuang lifted her right leg, her black leather boot gently bracing against Lu Yunshu’s office chair.

She said, “I banged my knee.”

Lu Yunshu’s teasing expression froze, her face instantly turning serious. “Does it hurt? Let me see.”

“Go ahead.”

Jin Hanshuang was wearing a long skirt.

Lu Yunshu lifted the flowing hem of her skirt all the way up to her knee.

She cradled the crook of Jin Hanshuang’s knee, examining it carefully.

It was so pale.

No bruises, no wounds.

She looked up to see Jin Hanshuang smiling at her.

“Nothing? Maybe I remembered wrong. Maybe I hit somewhere else. Why don’t you look a little higher and make sure?”

Lu Yunshu came to a realization.

Her serious expression softened, the corners of her lips curving into a smile.

She held Jin Hanshuang’s legs in her hands.

Her chair inched closer to the desk.

Her fingertips pushed at the hem of the skirt, slowly inching higher.

“Do you want me to check? Right now?”

Lu Yunshu’s gaze never left Jin Hanshuang.

Here, in her office?

Even though there was no one else around, the thought alone sent her heart racing.

Such a professional business setting was suddenly intruded by an ambiguous atmosphere.

It was difficult to withstand.

Jin Hanshuang raised her hand and gently stroked Lu Yunshu’s cheek.

“Do you want it?”

Lu Yunshu was honest. “A little.”

Jin Hanshuang’s eyes curved into a smile. “Then consider this another gift.”

She looked at Lu Yunshu affectionately.

When she spoke, her tone was just as warm and enticing. “Today is our Yunshu’s birthday, so anything goes~”

As they stared at each other, their emotions whirled like splashing waves and raging fire.

Lu Yunshu bent down and pressed a gentle kiss to Jin Hanshuang’s leg.

A subtle sensation erupted across her skin, spreading through her whole body.

Jin Hanshuang trembled uncontrollably.

Lu Yunshu’s fingertips caressed the hem of her skirt, a breeze passing through a sea of flowers—-wherever the wind drifted, the blossoms followed.

Then, the tender kisses began to fall.

One here, another there—scattered, without pattern.

They were still in the same positions—one with her eyes lowered, the other raised.

Jin Hanshuang didn’t restrain her feelings.

She let them be heard through her breath.

She opened her eyes and looked down at Lu Yunshu.

Lu Yunshu seemed to sense her gaze and raised her head.

She was wearing a black shirt with her sleeves rolled up her arm. The first two buttons were undone, revealing a pale patch of skin and her beautiful collarbones.

Beneath her collarbone rested a silver necklace, one that Hanshuang had given to her and fastened for her with her own hands.

It matched her appearance perfectly.

Jin Hanshuang reached out, her fingers brushing over the necklace, then reaching up to caress Lu Yunshu’s cheek.

Her girlfriend’s eyes were beautiful.

Their outer corners were smooth and slightly upturned, her irises bright and clear.

They were phoenix eyes full of spirit.

Those eyes overflowed with love for Jin Hanshuang…and a raw, piercing desire.

She wanted Jin Hanshuang.

Right here.

Jin Hanshuang couldn’t resist—she leaned forward and kissed her.

She was determined to make herself the best and most extravagant birthday gift.

Their kisses grew hotter and deeper.

It was like stumbling into the height of summer.

Every layer of clothing suddenly seemed like a burden.

Their skins craved for air and release.

She wanted to tear them off.

Right now.

Between ragged breaths, Jin Hanshuang’s jacket slipped off her shoulders.

Just then, footsteps sounded outside.

Both of them froze.

Their hearts pounded in unison.

Someone was coming.

“Who is it?”

“I don’t know.”

Lu Yunshu really didn’t know. She believed everyone had gone home already.

The two of them exchanged a glance.

Jin Hanshuang dropped her foot to the ground, slipped on her jacket, and fixed her hair.

Lu Yunshu straightened her collar and hair.

Just then, there was a knock on the office door.

A mature female voice called, “Yunshu, are you there?”

Jin Hanshuang and Lu Yunshu exchanged another glance.

It was a familiar voice.

—Lu Fangru.

Lu Yunshu went to answer the door herself.

As soon as she opened it, she saw Lu Fangru and Cheng Shu standing outside.

They were holding flowers, gifts, and a cake.

And, most importantly—their heartfelt intentions.

“Happy Birthday!” the couple exclaimed in unison.

They had returned to celebrate her birthday.

Lu Yunshu was stunned for a moment, then she couldn’t help but smile.

Cheng Shu looked over her shoulder. “Oh, Hanshuang’s here too.” He had spotted his soon-to-be niece-in-law. “Perfect timing! Let’s eat cake together.”

Jin Hanshuang stepped forward, nodding in agreement.

She exchanged a glance and a knowing smile with Lu Yunshu.

Even though they had been interrupted, it didn’t matter.

They both had family who loved them deeply.

The warm family birthday celebration came to an end.

Lu Yunshu finally got off work.

The two parties went their separate ways.

Jin Hanshuang and Lu Yunshu returned to their residential complex.

After parking the car, they walked toward the elevator with their hands intertwined.

Lu Yunshu carried in her free hand the gifts she had received that night.

There were more gifts, but those from other friends and business partners had already been sent home during the day.

Jin Hanshuang held the small cake they hadn’t had the time to eat.

The four of them had been so busy enjoying Lu Fangru’s large birthday cake that they had forgotten all about the little cake in the fridge.

Now, they could only take it home.

Jin Hanshuang asked, “Did you have fun today?”

Then, in a more serious tone, “Did you have fun tonight?”

Lu Yunshu replied, “Yes, very much.”

Jin Hanshuang came to celebrate her birthday.

And so did her aunt and uncle.

She could feel all of their love for her.

“But I still have one regret.”

“What regret?”

Jin Hanshuang’s response was instant, as if no matter what that regret was, she would help Lu Yunshu resolve it today.

Lu Yunshu looked into Jin Hanshuang’s eyes. Her brows were furrowed, but there was a hint of amusement in her voice. “If only there was some way to make up for the interrupted gift in the office.”

Jin Hanshuang immediately understood. She glanced at the small cake in her hand, her eyes curving into smiles. “We can make it up at home.”

Then she teasingly hooked her fingers around Lu Yunshu’s. “Doctor Lu hasn’t figured out where I bumped into yet~”

Doctor Lu?

Lu Yunshu heard this title for the first time and found it strangely appealing.

Seeing Jin Hanshuang’s playful expression, Lu Yunshu smoothly accepted the persona her wife had established for her. “Don’t worry, Doctor Lu will make sure to conduct a thorough examination.”

Jin Hanshuang lifted the small cake. “To thank Doctor Lu for her hard work even after hours, I’m treating you to a piece of cake.”

She halted, turning to face Lu Yunshu. “We can eat it anywhere, you know.”

Her fingers brushed over Lu Yunshu’s shirt collar, then traced over her collarbone.

Even her gaze was soft and teasing.

“No matter where it is, I’ll lick it clean for you.”

Lu Yunshu’s breath was hot and uneven.

It was so obvious, just like the way she felt.

She grabbed Jin Hanshuang’s hand, staring straight into her eyes.

She wanted to scold Jin Hanshuang for being naughty, but she also wanted to praise Jin Hanshuang for being so skilled.

She hesitated.

In the end, she could only utter two words: “Go home.”

Their pace quickened.

00:00—April 12 had arrived.

Lu Yunshu’s alarm clock rang, then was turned off.

A single candle lit a half-finished cake.

Lu Yunshu held the cake out before Jin Hanshuang.

“Happy Birthday.”

Jin Hanshuang made a wish and blew out the candle.

Lu Yunshu set the cake down and kissed her cheek. “Let’s make do with this for now. Tomorrow, I’ll get you a better cake.”

“This is perfect too,” Jin Hanshuang said, smiling as she embraced Lu Yunshu. “With you here, everything is perfect~

Lu Yunshu returned her smile. She wrapped her arms around Jin Hanshuang’s waist, burying her head in Jin Hanshuang’s shoulder.

“Hanshuang, thank you for coming into this world.”

She had seen many beautiful things.

Jin Hanshuang’s existence was one of them.

Lu Yunshu’s tone was full of happiness, and Jin Hanshuang felt it too.

Holding Lu Yunshu felt like holding all the beauty in the world.

Although she wasn’t welcomed by her parents, there were others who looked forward to her.

She ran her fingers through Lu Yunshu’s long hair, her gaze soft. “Thank you for coming into this world, too. Thank you for loving me for so long…Yunshu, you are the best birthday gift I’ve ever had.”

Their lingering affection was completed with a deep kiss.

Then, they went back to eating cake.

Jin Hanshuang reached out, smearing the white frosting on her fingertip onto Lu Yunshu’s leg.

She leaned closer to Doctor Lu with a smile.

“We haven’t finished the cake yet…and it’s wrong to waste food~”
