Chapter 59 – The End

Lu Yunshu was struggling with how to give the ring to Jin Hanshuang.

She considered this their first ring of true significance, so shouldn’t it be accompanied by a suitably grand ceremony? But what if Jin Hanshuang didn’t like that kind of fanfare? She could only hope that Hanshuang would happily accept the ring…

She was so conflicted.

Lu Yunshu stared at the ring, her expression solemn.

She gently closed the box.

It was too meaningful.

She would keep agonizing over it a while longer.

Jin Hanshuang got her period.

This time, it wasn’t going well.

She was in pain.

After taking some painkillers, she lay on bed feeling miserable.

The daylight outside her window was harsh and miserable.

Jin Hanshuang struggled to get up and groped around the bedside table until she found the remote. She pressed a button, watching as the remote-controlled curtains slowly closed.

As the room dimmed, she lay back down, pressing a pillow against her abdomen for warmth and comfort. Closing her eyes, she quietly waited for the painkillers to kick in.

At last, the pain eased a little, and her mind cleared.

But she was still exhausted from head to toe.

Her heart was also tired, weighed down by inexplicable gloom.

And in that gloom, one person’s face surfaced in her mind.

—Lu Yunshu.

What was her Yunshu doing right now?

Reading a report?

In a meeting?

Talking with a business partner?

Or maybe doing nothing at all—just leisurely sipping coffee?

Her Yunshu…she missed her.

Without thinking, Jin Hanshuang picked up her phone and unlocked it.

She wanted to call.

But she held back.

She sent a message first: [Crying puppy.gif]

Lu Yunshu replied instantly: [Why are you crying?]

She was available.

Intuiting this point, Jin Hanshuang’s hand was already pressing the video call button.

Lu Yunshu picked up on the other end.

The screen shifted to Lu Yunshu’s office.

Jin Hanshuang could clearly see that the camera was angled right in front of Lu Yunshu’s workspace. There were stacks of files on the desk—and her girlfriend, looking serious and wearing gold-rimmed glasses.

When she realized that the video was connected, Lu Yunshu put down what she was working on, lifted her gaze to the screen, and brought the phone closer for a closer look. “Hanshuang, you don’t look well. Are you feeling unwell?”

She noticed Jin Hanshuang’s mood right away.

Jin Hanshuang gave a weak smile. “Yeah, I’m getting period cramps.”

Lu Yunshu glanced at the calendar. It was that time of month.

But Jin Hanshuang usually didn’t get cramps, so this time it seemed like something unexpected had happened.

Lu Yunshu’s brows furrowed with worry. “Have you taken any painkillers?”

“Yeah…” Jin Hanshuang looked at Lu Yunshu and blurted, “I miss you. All of a sudden…I miss you so much.” Her brows and eyes softened. Her voice was light and almost coquettish.

Even the way she stared without blinking into Lu Yunshu’s eyes seemed to be sending out wordless pleas for affection.

Lu Yunshu caught every bit of it, the corners of her lips curving into a faint smile. She asked, “Should I come home to be with you?”

Jin Hanshuang laughed. “Yes, hurry back and keep me company.”

Lu Yunshu said, “Then sleep a little first. By the time you wake up, I’ll be home.”

Jin Hanshuang nodded. “Mm.”

She knew, of course, that Lu Yunshu wouldn’t really come back so quickly. It was just something she said to comfort her. After all, even if Lu Yunshu didn’t see her right away, she would see her tonight. They saw each other every day—they had a whole lifetime together.

Jin Hanshuang slowly closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep while looking at Lu Yunshu working in her office on her screen.

She slept half-dreaming and half-awake, still aware of some noises in her environment. After a while, she heard the soft sound of a door opening.

Because her room was so quiet, the sound was very clear.

Then came the faint rustling of clothes.

Along with the sensation of her hair being gently brushed aside.

A hand softly stroking her head.

A familiar fragrance lingering at her nose.

It smelled like…her Yunshu.

Jin Hanshuang stirred awake slowly.

When Jin Hanshuang lifted her head, she discovered her wife sitting on the bedside. She was dressed in the clothes that Jin Hanshuang had chosen for her just this morning.

Light shone in her eyes, showing her surprise and joy. “Why did you come back?”

Lu Yunshu leaned down and caressed Jin Hanshuang’s head. She said with tender gentleness, “You missed me, so I came back.”

“What about your work…?”

“It’s fine, I can work from home….” Lu Yunshu kissed Jin Hanshuang’s cheek. “And keep you company at the same time.”

Then she tucked the quilt around Jin Hanshuang. “Does it still hurt?”

Jin Hanshuang’s heart warmed.

She nodded softly. “A little, but it’s not bad.”

Lu Yunshu kissed her cheek again, her gentleness almost unbearable. “Lie down for a while. I’ll get you some hot water to warm your stomach.”

Jin Hanshuang agreed quietly, watching as Lu Yunshu got up.

The dip in the mattress slowly rose again.

Jin Hanshuang ran her hand over the mattress. Lu Yunshu’s scent still lingered in the air, as if she was still holding Jin Hanshuang.

Jin Hanshuang’s stomach still ached, but her heart was warm.

Just because Jin Hanshuang said she missed her, Lu Yunshu came back.

Her Yunshu was so good to her…

Lu Yunshu returned with a hot water bottle.

She rested it against Jin Hanshuang’s abdomen.

The warmth washed over her through the blanket.

Jin Hanshuang’s whole body relaxed, and the dull pain ebbed away.

She took Lu Yunshu’s hand and brought it to her lips.

“Thank you, Yunshu. I feel much better now.”

Lu Yunshu sat down on the bed.

She leaned over and fixed Jin Hanshuang’s hair, then kissed her on the forehead.

“As long as you’re feeling better, that’s all that matters. Don’t thank me—this is just what I should do. Sleep now. Once you’ve rested, you’ll feel better. I’ll stay here with you.”

Jin Hanshuang nodded, looking incredibly well-behaved.

Seeing this, Lu Yunshu couldn’t resist leaning in for another kiss.

Jin Hanshuang patted the empty space beside her. She blinked up at Lu Yunshu coquettishly, “Do your work here and keep me company.”

So obedient—so impossibly cute.

Lu Yunshu couldn’t hold back the smile tugging at her lips.

She kissed Jin Hanshuang. “All right, I’ll work here and keep you company.”

She slipped off her coat, carried her documents into the room, and sat down on the bed.

Jin Hanshuang lay beside Lu Yunshu, her whole body warm and not nearly as uncomfortable as before. Once she felt a bit better, she began to feel drowsy.

Lu Yunshu’s hand rested lightly on her head, stroking softly.

It was so comfortable, so gentle—everything in the room felt the same way.

Jin Hanshuang didn’t speak again. She closed her eyes and drifted back into sleep.

Lu Yunshu glanced at Jin Hanshuang, then pulled the quilt over her girlfriend’s shoulders.

Afterward, she couldn’t resist watching her girlfriend’s sleeping face.

…This was good, too.

When Jin Hanshuang woke up, the room was dim and the sky outside was already dark.

Lu Yunshu was no longer at her side.

Her first instinct was to look around, searching for Lu Yunshu’s tall figure.

She couldn’t find her.

But the door was slightly ajar, with a thin ray of light spilling through.

Jin Hanshuang got up clutching her phone and the still-warm hot water bottle as she walked into the living room.

Sure enough, Lu Yunshu was there typing away at her laptop.

Lu Yunshu lifted her head and saw Jin Hanshuang slowly making her way toward her.

She immediately set her laptop aside and stood to support her.

“Why are you up?”

Jin Hanshuang smiled at her. “I came to find you. I woke up and didn’t see you.”

Lu Yunshu explained, “I was afraid my typing would wake you up, so I came out here.”

Jin Hanshuang kissed her on the cheek. “So thoughtful. How is my Yunshu always such a good girl?”

Lu Yunshu returned the kiss. “Because my Hanshuang deserves it.”

Jin Hanshuang was moved. “You deserve it too.”

Her Yunshu deserved the very best that the world had to offer.

And all the love in the world.

Her Yunshu—the best Yunshu.

Lu Yunshu asked with concern, “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?”

“Not yet. Let’s wait a bit. I want to sit down for a while. Are you hungry?”

“No.”

“Then we’ll eat together later.”

“Okay.”

The two of them sat on the sofa.

Jin Hanshuang was curled on her side by the armrest.

Lu Yunshu covered her with a blanket, then picked up her laptop again.

Jin Hanshuang watched as Lu Yunshu worked.

Lu Yunshu still hadn’t changed her clothes. She was wearing the white turtleneck sweater and black slacks that Jin Hanshuang had chosen for her.

Her long hair was clipped back with a shark clip. A loose strand had escaped, slipping down along her cheek.

It didn’t get in the way. It only softened her normally stern appearance.

That beautiful pair of gold-rimmed glasses rested on her nose, their lenses reflecting the glow of the laptop screen.

She was focused, composed, and completely captivating.

Jin Hanshuang admired her in silence.

The longer she looked, the more she liked what she saw.

Her girlfriend who always worked diligently was so cool and beautiful.

She quietly lifted her phone and took a picture.

It was a beautiful photo.

Such a perfect face.

She was so lucky.

Lu Yunshu suddenly reached over—to touch her hot water bottle.

Two light presses, testing its temperature.

After confirming that it was still warm, she withdrew her hand.

Her face was calm and composed, as if it was something she had done countless times.

Jin Hanshuang blinked and let out a soft, soundless laugh.

Now she knew how the hot water bottle was still warm when she woke up.

Lu Yunshu seemed to notice her smiling.

She turned, looking at her gently. “What are you laughing about?”

Jin Hanshuang curled her finger, drawing Lu Yunshu in.

Lu Yunshu set down her laptop and leaned closer.

Jin Hanshuang brushed a kiss across her lips.

“I’m just so happy I have such a good girlfriend.”

Lu Yunshu smiled and kissed her back.

This little puppy loved nothing more than hearing her jiejie praise her.

“Are you done with work?” Jin Hanshuang asked.

“Almost, just a little more.”

“So hardworking…” Jin Hanshuang said. “Then go on, finish up. When you’re done, we’ll eat.”

“Okay.” Before pulling away, Lu Yunshu kissed her girlfriend again.

She couldn’t help it.

While she loved playing with her girlfriend’s hands, she loved kissing her even more.

Jin Hanshuang stayed by her side, keeping her company.

After a while, she opened her WeChat. She clicked on the photo she had taken, double-checked it, then posted it on her feed.

The caption was two short lines:

[So beautiful.]

[So happy.]

A couple’s love for everyone to see.

Finally, President Lu finished her work.

She closed the laptop, took off her glasses, and rubbed her tired eyes.

Just then, a pair of hands reached out and gently began massaging her shoulders.

“Our President Lu is working so hard, still at it even after office hours…”

The moment Lu Yunshu looked into Jin Hanshuang’s gaze, her eyes softened.

She took hold of Jin Hanshuang’s hands.

Then she pulled her girlfriend into her arms and gently began rubbing her stomach.

“Does it hurt?”

Jin Hanshuang smiled. “Not so much anymore.”

“That’s good.” Lu Yunshu continued, “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat now?”

Jin Hanshuang nodded.

She added, “You need to eat too. Don’t go hungry.”

They decided to order takeout.

After placing the order, Lu Yunshu went to take a shower.

Then Jin Hanshuang did the same.

By the time Jin Hanshuang came out, Lu Yunshu had already arranged their dinner on the table.

There was another hot water bottle waiting on the sofa.

Lu Yunshu had prepared it for her.

After they ate, Jin Hanshuang curled up in Lu Yunshu’s arms.

She hugged the hot water bottle to her abdomen.

Outside, the night sky was dotted with stars.

The silence was profound and captivating.

“I really like this,” Jin Hanshuang suddenly said.

“What do you mean?” Lu Yunshu asked.

Jin Hanshuang smiled. “I like this kind of life. It’s quiet and simple.”

She looked up at Lu Yunshu, her chest warmed. “And I’m very happy.”

Lu Yunshu’s lashes fluttered slightly.

She lowered her gaze and asked softly, “Then…do you want to spend the rest of your life with me like this?”

Jin Hanshuang met her girlfriend’s eyes and answered without hesitation, “Yes. Let’s spend our lives like this.”

Lu Yunshu’s eyes lit up.

Although it was a promise that they had made to each other countless times, her heart still fluttered every time she heard it.

Especially now, when she was about to give the ring.

Suddenly, she came to a realization.

They didn’t need a grand ceremony.

As long as they loved each other, as long as Jin Hanshuang loved the gift she was about to give her, that was all that mattered.

So, Lu Yunshu decided to hand the decision over to Jin Hanshuang.

She would consult Teacher Jin one last time.

“Teacher Jin.”

“Yeah?” Jin Hanshuang said, then froze. “It’s been a long time since you called me that. What’s wrong, do you need advice?”

Lu Yunshu smiled. “Teacher Jin is so smart.”

Teacher Jin smiled back. “Go ahead, Student Lu.”

Lu Yunshu squeezed Jin Hanshuang in her arms. “So I’ve prepared a gift for the person I like. It’s one-of-a-kind and incredibly special. I want to give it to her, but I don’t know how to do it in a way that will make her happy.”

Jin Hanshuang asked with a hint of laughter, “And what gift is this?”

She saw Lu Yunshu smile at her.

Then she heard Lu Yunshu whisper in her ear, soft as a breeze—

“A ring.”

Jin Hanshuang froze.

Lu Yunshu’s voice lingered in her ear.

It was tinged with love.

“I’ve always wanted the person I love to have a ring that belonged only to us, so that the whole world could know: This is Lu Yunshu’s lover.

“And I want her to know: I really like her. I love her so much. I want to spend my entire life with her. Meeting her has been the greatest fortune of my life.”

Jin Hanshuang was no longer able to speak.

But Lu Yunshu’s voice carried on with a familiar tenderness. “But I have no experience with proposals or proposing to anyone. I don’t know what kind of special moment or ceremony she might want. I don’t even know how to give her this ring in a way that will make her especially happy, so…”

“Jiejie, help me please. Give me some advice.”

After hearing everything Lu Yunshu had to say, Jin Hanshuang couldn’t help but laugh—but her eyes were tinged with red.

She was really, truly happy…

“Jiejie doesn’t have any experience with proposals either,” Jin Hanshuang said with a smile. “Why don’t you take out the ring and show me first?”

Lu Yunshu immediately got up, went back to the bedroom, and took the ring box out of her coat pocket.

She had been carrying it with her all this time, afraid she might miss the perfect moment to propose.

Now, at last, the ring she had spent so long agonizing over was about to see its rightful owner.

Jin Hanshuang laid her eyes on the ring.

It was so beautiful—so very beautiful.

The logo on the ring box was familiar.

Jin Hanshuang raised an eyebrow. “Business dealings, hm?”

Lu Yunshu smiled and nodded. “Mm, that’s right.”

So that was what they’d been hiding from her.

All this time, they had been looking over the design for the ring they were about to give her.

Jin Hanshuang was happy.

So very happy.

She had—

A wonderful daughter.

A wonderful lover.

And now, a beautiful engagement ring.

She couldn’t help but examine the ring for a long time, tracing over its every detail.

Then she told Lu Yunshu, “Take it out.”

And Lu Yunshu did.

Jin Hanshuang said, “Hold it up.”

Lu Yunshu obeyed.

Jin Hanshuang stretched out her hand.

She gently slipped her left ring finger through the ring.

It slipped on perfectly.

Lu Yunshu’s eyes lit up.

Her girlfriend had tacitly said yes!

Jin Hanshuang gazed at the ring for a moment, feeling satisfied.

Then she turned to Lu Yunshu and declared, “Now the bride may kiss the bride.”

Lu Yunshu couldn’t suppress the smile that spread across her lips and into her eyes.

She leaned closer to Jin Hanshuang.

She kissed her bride.

That night, Lu Yunshu updated her WeChat Moments.

She posted a picture.

In the photo, there were two hands with their fingers tightly interlaced.

The top hand wore a silver ring on her finger.

The caption read:

[So beautiful.]

[So happy.]

The author (热到昏厥) has something to say:

What a perfect match, may they be happy forever~

The—main—story—is—finished!!!

Thank you all so much for reading this far, love you guys!

I just finished the first draft of the synopsis for President Shen’s story.

Please take a look:

Yun Youqing has a crush on someone.

This person’s name is Shen Wenxin.

She’s a straight woman.

Whenever Yun Youqing talks to Shen Wenxin, she is very casual—even reckless.

She flirts with her even more brazenly than any straight girl would.

And she comes up with all sorts of cheesy one-liners.

“Excuse me, how do I get your heart?”

“You’re going home, I’m going home, we’re both going home, isn’t that just destiny?”

“You’re looking at me? Do you like me?”

“You’re holding my hand? Do you like me?”

“You just took a breath? You must like me!”

Since Shen Wenxin would never actually like her, can’t she have a little fun with her words?

But later—

Yun Youqing: “You just took a breath? You must like me.”

Shen Wenxin takes a deep breath. “What about now?”

Yun Youqing: “That…that must mean you really like me!”

Shen Wenxin suddenly smiled.

Her tone was serious. “Yes, I really like you.”

Yun Youqing said, “Hahaha—wait, what???”

Shen Wenxin is not a straight woman anymore!!!
