By the time Jin Hanshuang came out, the two troublemakers had already stopped their childish bickering.

Everything was ready. It was time to set off.

As for Lu Yunshu, it was time for her to go home.

Jin Hanshuang told Shen Wenxin to wait for her in the parking lot.

Since they couldn’t meet for a few days, she needed to properly say goodbye to her girlfriend.

Shen Wenxin, holding her and Jin Hanshuang’s things, turned back to look at them.

Lu Yunshu met her gaze.

They stared at each other.

Finally, Lu Yunshu said, “These adults are in love. Children shouldn’t watch.”

Shen Wenxin rolled her eyes. “Hurry up.”

With that, she stepped into the elevator first.

Jin Hanshuang watched her daughter leave with a soft smile, then turned to Lu Yunshu.

She adjusted Lu Yunshu’s coat and scarf, then gently stroked her cheek.

She said, “Happy New Year, Yunshu.”

“Happy New Year.” Lu Yunshu kissed her palm. “Miss me.”

“I will.” Jin Hanshuang’s eyes were tender. She cupped Lu Yunshu’s face. “My wife is so adorable. I’ll miss you every day. You have to miss me too, okay?”

Lu Yunshu smiled and nodded. “The moment I step out that door, I’ll start missing Hanshuang.”

Jin Hanshuang laughed. “You’ll still be able to see me once you step out.”

Lu Yunshu said earnestly, “My eyes might still see you, but my heart will already be missing you.”

Jin Hanshuang smiled. “What about your brain?”

Lu Yunshu’s tone softened. “My brain will be thinking about bringing you home.”

Jin Hanshuang was momentarily stunned.

Her tender emotions rippled through her gaze like water.

She leaned in to kiss Lu Yunshu on the lips, then hugged her. “I believe you. I’ll wait for your good news.”

Lu Yunshu nodded solemnly. She would work hard to bring her wife home to meet her family.

Then she saw Jin Hanshuang pull two red envelopes out of her coat pocket.

Jin Hanshuang had both of these designs custom-made. One was a beautiful shade of red, decorated with golden threads that looped into flower petals of so many different sizes. The other had a cute design. Playful little panda cubs peeked out from the side, gazing curiously at the outside world. It was full of innocence and whimsy.

Jin Hanshuang had said that the panda-themed one was for children. She tucked both red envelopes into Lu Yunshu’s coat pocket. Then she gave them a gentle pat. “Here—these are Yunshu’s red envelopes. Keep them safe.”

Lu Yunshu blinked, surprised. “I get one too?”

Jin Hanshuang nodded. “Everyone does. Wenxin has one too.”

Lu Yunshu smiled. “Then why do I have two?”

Jin Hanshuang pinched her coat, a slightly troubled expression on her face. “I couldn’t decide which envelope to give you. Our Yunshu is an adult, but you are also still a cute little child to me. It was really hard to choose, so why not have both~”

Lu Yunshu could tell from Jin Hanshuang’s eyes that she had thought about it a lot. She was actually bothered by something like this…

Lu Yunshu held Jin Hanshuang’s face and kissed her. “My wife is so cute.”

Jin Hanshuang smiled and returned the kiss. “Happy New Year, baby.”

Because of Lu Yunshu, her year had been especially joyful.

Jin Hanshuang took Lu Yunshu’s hand and picked up the gift bag. “Wenxin’s still waiting for us. Come on, let’s go celebrate the New Year~”

Jin Hanshuang and Shen Wenxin went to spend the New Year with Shen Wenxin’s aunt and uncle.

After returning home, Lu Yunshu cleaned up and drove over to her aunt’s place.

Ever since her father passed away, she had spent every New Year at her aunt’s. Even though both her parents were gone, at least she still had her aunt and uncle’s family. She wasn’t a lonely child that no one wanted.

As soon as she closed the trunk, she turned around and saw a pretty young girl running out of her aunt’s house, cheerfully calling out, “Sis!”

Lu Yunshu raised her eyes and gently replied, “Yangyang.”

Lu Mengyang.

Lu Fangru’s daughter.

She was twenty-one this year, a college student.

Lu Mengyang ran up and grabbed onto Lu Yunshu’s arm, beaming.

She really liked this older cousin of hers.

Not only was Lu Yunshu beautiful and elegant, but she also ran such a big company. She was so amazing. Of course, Lu Mengyang’s own mother was just as amazing! Lu Mengyang was surrounded by amazing women.

Lu Mengyang spoke warmly, “Sis, did you have lunch yet?”

Lu Yunshu nodded. “I did.”

She handed over the gift bag. “Your New Year’s present.”

Lu Mengyang’s smile grew even brighter. “Thank you, sis!”

Then she clung to her cousin’s arm and said playfully, “I knew you’re the best to me~”

At this moment, a refined-looking middle-aged man came out.

As soon as Lu Yunshu’s uncle saw the scene, he shook his head with a helpless smile. “Ai-ya, you bought her another gift? Don’t spoil this girl too much.”

“Spoil her more!” Lu Mengyang patted her chest, speaking with the utmost confidence. “This girl can get used to it!”

Lu Yunshu laughed and tapped Lu Mengyang on the nose. It was a very familiar gesture. Jin Hanshuang liked to do that to her too.

She already missed her girlfriend.

Her uncle waved them both inside. “It’s cold out—come on in.”

The two of them headed inside.

Lu Yunshu changed her shoes.

Her uncle asked warmly, “Yunyun, are you hungry? Have you eaten? If not, I can make a couple dishes for you.”

Lu Yunshu shook her head. “It’s fine, I’m not hungry. I already ate at my girlfriend’s place.”

Lu Fangru was just walking over when she heard Lu Yunshu confess. She leaned against the wall and said with a smile, “Our President Lu sure is living a blissful life.”

Her uncle’s expression turned gentle. “That’s wonderful.”

Only Lu Mengyang was shocked. “What?! Sis, you have a girlfriend?!”

Lu Yunshu slowly took off her scarf, her voice calm. “Mhm.”

Lu Mengyang turned to look at her parents. “Wait, Mom, Dad—you two already knew?!”

Her mom: “Yes.”

Her dad: “That’s right.”

Lu Mengyang: “…”

She immediately turned on her gossip meter. “Who is it? Who is it!”

Then she heard her parents say in perfect unison: “We don’t know.”

Lu Mengyang: “?”

Lu Mengyang: You two seriously have no intel at all.”

Lu Fangru replied, “Your cousin is very good at keeping secrets.”

Back then, all Lu Yunshu said was, “I’ll bring her back to meet you one day.”

Not a single detail beyond that.

Lu Fangru only figured out that her niece had a girlfriend from these few words.

To this day, she still didn’t know who it was.

Wasn’t that impressive?

Lu Mengyang turned to her cousin. She blinked at her curiously. “So, who is it?”

Lu Yunshu patted her head, replying mysteriously, “You’ll find out someday.”

Lu Mengyang: “?”

Was it so confidential?

Then her eyes widened. “Wait, don’t tell me…you’re dating an idol who’s still on the rise?!”

Lu Yunshu: “?”

Lu Mengyang said, “Oh my god, sis. You can’t! If the fans find out, they’ll go ballistic!”

Lu Yunshu: “…”

She didn’t understand, but she thought it was funny.

She gently pinched her little cousin’s cheek. “No more wild guesses. She’s not an idol.”

At least…not anymore.

Lu Fangru frowned, looking utterly confused.

Her uncle laughed. “Okay, that’s enough. Let’s head inside and warm up.”

Night fell quickly, casting its curtains over City A.

After having dinner and taking a show, Lu Yunshu video-called her girlfriend. Then she threw on a sweater and stepped out to find Lu Fangru.

She wanted to chat with her aunt.

They sat by the study window facing the stars, a fruit platter and a hot tea brewed by Uncle Lu between them. They had originally planned to sit on the terrace, but it was too cold so they gave up on the idea.

Lu Yunshu said, “I made peace with Shen Wenxin.”

After hearing this, Lu Fangru raised her eyebrows slightly. It wasn’t a strong reaction. You could even say she was very calm.

She picked up a cup of hot tea. “Very good. It was never really your business to begin with.”

Long ago, she had said that the conflict between two fathers shouldn’t be shouldered by their children. And now? This outcome was ideal. The kids had resolved everything on their own.

She sipped her tea gracefully. “Shaking hands and making peace, becoming friends. These are all good.”

Her reaction was exactly what Lu Yunshu had expected.

Lu Yunshu smiled and slowly speared a slice of apple with her fork. “Yes, it’s good to be friends. But I prefer being friends with her stepmother.”

At that, Lu Fangru laughed. “Our President Lu is really amazing. She even made friends with the girl’s stepmother?”

Lu Yunshu lowered her eyes, smiling. “Mm. President Lu is amazing.”

She hadn’t just befriended Shen Wenxin’s stepmother. They were in love too.

“I’ve heard she’s a good person, that Mrs. Shen, ” Lu Fangru said. “People say she’s smart, beautiful, and compassionate. Is that true?”

Lu Yunshu answered without hesitation, “Yes. She’s a really wonderful person.”

After saying this, she felt a little more at ease and couldn’t help but smile. “So Auntie already had such a good impression of her.”

Lu Fangru replied, “I only know her from what others say.”

Then she asked again to be sure, “She really is that kind of person?”

She had heard bits and pieces about Jin Hanshuang here and there.

Not only was she smart and attractive, but she was also emotionally intelligent and easy to get along with.

With a wave of her hand, she turned many people into VIP clients and brought massive business to Minghai Jewelry. And since Minghai Jewelry had such a great reputation for their product quality, plenty of people were willing to give her face.

She sounded like an impressive person.

Lu Fangru wasn’t personally familiar with Jin Hanshuang, so she wasn’t sure if this person was really like that. But now that Lu Yunshu was friends with Jin Hanshuang, if Lu Yunshu said so, Lu Fangru believed it. She had always trusted her niece’s judgement.

Lu Yunshu confirmed, “She is.”

“I see.” Lu Fangru’s face turned thoughtful, and she said nothing else.

But Lu Yunshu thought of her girlfriend—the best girlfriend in the world—and couldn’t help but say more. “Hanshuang is a really wonderful person. She’s kind and gentle. Auntie, you should get to know her more.”

Lu Fangru chuckled. “Why would I go out of my way to get to know her?”

Lu Yunshu replied calmly, “If you get to know her, you’ll see how amazing she is. If you get to know her, you’ll understand…why I fell for her.”

Lu Fangru kept smiling—

Then paused. Her smile froze.

“Hold on a second.” Her mind went through. “Did you just say…you fell for someone?”

Lu Yunshu met her aunt’s stunned expression with a calm gaze.

She pronounced every word clearly.

“I said, I fell for Jin Hanshuang. The person I like is Jin Hanshuang.”

Lu Fangru: “…?”

This story is a mind-burner, meaning that the characters’ CPUs are constantly on the verge of overheating.
