Shen Wenxin had asked if the sun rose from the west.

Lu Yunshu said, “Yes.”

She even admitted it!

She knew that she was acting out of the ordinary!

Shen Wenxin was so speechless she forgot to take her drink.

Lu Yunshu withdrew her hand. “If you don’t want it, forget it.”

She turned and clinked glasses with Jin Hanshuang before drinking from the glass herself.

The entire time, her expression didn’t change.

Jin Hanshuang’s lips were raised slightly as she watched Lu Yunshu. Her brows faintly furrowed. She had a vague understanding of what Lu Yunshu was doing, and the love in her eyes was almost impossible to hide. How could Lu Yunshu be so cute…

Shen Wenxin was also watching Lu Yunshu.

But hers was a different kind of speechless.

Lu Yunshu pretended not to hear her sarcastic tone and calmly nodded.

Think of it as her girlfriend’s daughter complimenting her.

“That’s enough.”

The adult in the room, Jin Hanshuang, finally spoke.

“Since we’re outside, let’s behave, use human words, and get along, okay? Try to save me some face.”

Since Jin Hanshuang had thrown in her weight, Shen Wenxin had nothing to add to the conversation, and Lu Yunshu even less.

Jin Hanshuang dangled the keys in her hand and glanced at Lu Yunshu.

“I’ll go with you.”

“Thank you.”

They kept a small distance between them as they walked to the parking lot together.

On the way, Jin Hanshuang asked, “Did you come alone?”

Lu Yunshu said, “I came with my secretary. She’s inside.”

Jin Hanshuang asked a different question. “Did you drive here yourself?”

Lu Yunshu nodded.

Most of the guests invited had already arrived at the gala, and the parking lot was very quiet.

Jin Hanshuang said, “Where did you park your car?”

Lu Yunshu didn’t understand, but she still took Jin Hanshuang to her car.

It was parked in a secluded corner and sheltered by two walls.

Suddenly, Jin Hanshuang said, “Open the car door.”

Lu Yunshu couldn’t tell what Jin Hanshuang was thinking. “Hm?”

Jin Hanshuang smiled faintly. “Let’s talk inside, where no one can see us.”

Bang!

The backseat door slammed closed.

In an instant, the world outside the car vanished. Time seemed to shrink down to the space between them. They were the only people that existed in the world.

A hand fell on the back of Lu Yunshu’s palm.

“Are you upset?” Jin Hanshuang’s voice came from beside her.

Jin Hanshuang tightly held her hand.

Lu Yunshu turned to look at her.

She hadn’t turned on the lights inside the car. They sat in the dimness, barely able to see each other under the low glow of the natural lighting from outside.

Even so, Lu Yunshu could clearly discern the mesmerizing glimmer in Jin Hanshuang’s eyes.

Being watched by this pair of eyes, she couldn’t help but feel impressed.

She hadn’t even said anything yet, and Jin Hanshuang had already noticed.

“Tell me why.”

“Because no one can know about our relationship.”

Jin Hanshuang blinked softly.

Jin Hanshuang suddenly said.

Lu Yunshu was stunned. “?”

Jin Hanshuang laughed. “Or at least that’s how Wenxin would see it.”

She reached up and gently stroked Lu Yunshu’s face. “Your friends know about us, and so do mine. We’re just dating, aren’t we?”

Lu Yunshu hesitated. “En…”

She raised Jin Hanshuang’s hand, her eyes searching Jin Hanshuang’s. “But do we have to keep it from Shen Wenxin forever?”

There was no plan to tell her?

What if they had to hide like this for the rest of their lives?

In that moment, Lu Yunshu’s gaze and her love were so overwhelming that Jin Hanshuang felt like her heart was on fire.

“No.” Jin Hanshuang’s gaze softened. “Just for now.”

“That’s it?”

Afraid that Lu Yunshu was still upset, Jin Hanshuang squeezed Lu Yunshu’s hand and lowered her voice. “It’s too soon. I’m afraid of frightening Wenxin. So Yunshu, don’t be anxious. We have plenty of time, right?”

When Lu Yunshu heard this, her mood improved slightly.

Yes, they still had so much time ahead of them.

She should try even harder to make this “plenty” last a lifetime.

And it was like Jin Hanshuang said. Bringing this matter up too quickly in front of Shen Wenxin might scare her.

Between the beats of her throbbing heart, Lu Yunshu felt the orange hard candy being passed to her by the tip of Jin Hanshuang’s tongue.

Jin Hanshuang pressed a hand against the wall behind Lu Yunshu.

At that moment, Lu Yunshu seemed to catch the lingering scent of a summer night. It was a gentle and delicate fragrance, like the smell of pine trees at dusk, not overwhelming at all.

Jin Hanshuang’s lips brushed against Lu Yunshu’s, slowly drifting to Lu Yunshu’s ear.

“My Yunshu must be happy.” When she spoke, her voice was soft and intoxicating. “And…because you ate my candy, you can’t forget about me tonight. Or else you’ll be just another ungrateful puppy.”

It was a very familiar tease.

Lu Yunshu was so intoxicated she couldn’t muster a reply.

Seeing the silly little puppy dazed out of her mind, Jin Hanshuang finally smiled in satisfaction.

She placed a light kiss in Lu Yunshu’s palm. “Good girl. Jiejie is leaving first~”

As Lu Yunshu lay stunned in the backseat, Jin Hanshuang got out of the car and walked away.

Jin Hanshuang stopped by Shen Wenxin’s car and pulled out a light, flowing shawl.

She glanced at Lu Yunshu one last time before leaving the parking lot.

She didn’t say a word, but her gaze was so alluring.

“…”

Lu Yunshu sat in place, the orange-flavored candy still in her mouth.

It was Jin Hanshuang who fed her the candy.

Between the lips, entangled in a kiss.

So sweet…

Lu Yunshu slowly covered her burning face, her glimmering eyes filled with affection.

So good…

Lu Yunshu no longer had time to be unhappy.

At the party, with the candy in her mouth, she could hear the voices of other people but she only had eyes for one person—Jin Hanshuang.

Jin Hanshuang, who was not by her side.

She might be standing and talking with strangers or sitting and sipping a drink that had been handed to her.

Every now and then, their eyes would meet for a brief moment.

Lu Yunshu could see the warm glances Jin Hanshuang sent her way during a conversation and the knowing looks she received during moments of laughter.

When they were so close Lu Yunshu could almost imagine crossing the distance, Jin Hanshuang’s fingers would gently caress her own full, rosy lips.

During these moments, the sweet taste of orange in her mouth and the secret kiss they shared in the backseat of her car became even harder to ignore.

Lu Yunshu lowered her gaze and took a sip of the juice, her long fingers lightly stroking the bottom of her glass.

Jin Hanshuang was teasing her on purpose.

She walked to the window and snuck out her phone.

[Lu Yunshu]: Can I come over tonight?

She had fallen for Jin Hanshuang’s teasing hook, line, and sinker.

[Jin Hanshuang]: Tonight probably won’t work.

[Jin Hanshuang]: Let’s meet tomorrow.

[Lu Yunshu]: Bad Jin Hanshuang.

[Jin Hanshuang]: What did I do?

[Lu Yunshu]: Tease a little puppy.

After Lu Yunshu sent her last message, she looked up and saw Jin Hanshuang smiling at her phone. A few seconds later, she received a reply.

[Jin Hanshuang]: Ai-ya, the little puppy found out.

Across the venue, Lu Yunshu saw Jin Hanshuang put away her phone.

After the words left Lu Yunshu’s mouth, another brief silence warred between them as Lu Yunshu’s eyes roamed over Shen Wenxin’s figure.

Shen Wenxin was wearing a simple black dress with an elegant cinched waist. The material was neatly cut and exuded a sense of refined elegance.

“You look good in this dress.”

After Lu Yunshu complimented Shen Wenxin, she left with her secretary. Her dress rippled in the night breeze, just as beautiful as Shen Wenxin’s.

Because Jin Hanshuang said that Shen Wenxin might be scared if they reveal their relationship too suddenly, Lu Yunshu decided to praise Shen Wenxin first so she could lay the groundwork for the future.

Since Shen Wenxin’s outfit was also chosen by Jin Hanshuang, Lu Yunshu was killing two birds with one stone by complimenting her girlfriend’s taste.

After Lu Yunshu left, Shen Wenxin and Jin Hanshuang stood rooted to the same spot, motionless.

Jin Hanshuang turned her head and saw that her stepdaughter was wearing expression like she’d been struck by lightning—shocked and twisted.

Shen Wenxin turned to Jin Hanshuang, finally finding her voice.

“Why is she so frightening tonight?”
